Mix of internal, external and cavity insulation for red-brick front

    Hi

Looking at insulating a detached house in an estate. House built in late 70's

The front is redbrick outerleaf, cavity and concrete block inner leaf. external wall insulation is not really an option for redbrick as I understand it. So I guess I could pump some insulation into the cavity.

The two side walls and back wall are all cavity blocks, and can't be pumped. Now the left side wall goes right to the edge of our property. So, if we were to put external wall insulation on it, we would be enroaching into our neighbour's property. I've no idea whether he would allow us to do this.

So it looks like I'd have to put internal wall insulation on the left side, cavity fill insulation in the front and the option of internal or external wall insulation on the right hand side and the back.

Does this make sense? Or is there a risk of losing alot of heat through the corners where the insulation type changes?

And would I be eligible for any grants if using three different types of insulation?

    Thanks in advance.

How wide is your cavity? EWI can be made to look like any type of facade. You would probably need planning for it though.

If I was your neighbour I wouldn't allow you to encroach onto my property.
