Moving to Aberdeen and looking for advice

I'm moving to Aberdeen at the end of the month to do a MSc in Medical physics at the university. I have no clue about areas to live in or areas to avoid. Best bet would be to call the students' union, the graduate studies office, and/or the departmental administrator. The latter might be able to put you in contact with another student who could advise.
