    Shocking form lads.

    International Windows suck!!

they should be played in the summer as a sort of mini tournament and get them out of the way then

there is an art to fouling.

Lucas did it well. he got away with it from the ref too, as they were all just niggly ones that never brought too much attention to himself, but were enough to slow the game down and make sure our players were back in position.

We can swoop for Moussa Sissoko if they do.

    Buy all the Sissoko's!

Ben Foster would be in high demand I'd imagine. Plenty of clubs would be after him, that's if he wanted to go. Great keeper imo and ruined a Monday night for me in Liverpool last season :(

It is a contact sport and Lucas done a great spoiling job on Sunday, fouled lots and got away with the majority of them. Ironically one of the times he actually didn't foul he got pulled up and it was in the most dangerous place which was just outside our box in the second half.

But you are right fouling is an art and Paul Scholes got away with it for years under the cloak of 'Ahh sure Scholes just cant tackle' - me hole he cant !!

West Brom? Interesting choice but I won't disagree just yet, I'm listening :)

Lukaku is a Massive Loss for them, and they haven't adequately replaced him.

WBA plays Counterattacking-Style of Football. If he is not there Spearheading it, they'll lose alot of their Edge. Kinda-like Villa would be Headless, if they ever lose Benteke.

I've seen them twice this season, and they look Listless in both. They created very few Goalscoring Chances, in their Games against Everton and Southampton.

Granted they were without Sinclair and Sessegnon, in those Games. But I don't think those Additions, will be enough for WBA. They'll be in the thick of the Relegation Battle.

Maybe Steve Clark would like to come back, keep Agger and Skrtel on their game.

Frankly I'd be looking at a full house for that run. Any points dropped would be disappointing. Swansea have been in and out so far, Soton looking less than expansive, Sunderland are a team that suggest they could collapse with a shove (anyone know if Borini will be allowed to play against LFC?), Palace have so many new players (ie just about everyone) its ridiculous and Newcastle are Newcastle.
    He can't

Whatever about us hoping he does well for obvious reasons, I hope he does well in the sense that if he doesn't Di Canio will be the first to let is all know how bad he's playing via public criticism. Any catch his post match interview last week? He wasn't happy with John O'Shea in particular. Di Canio gone by Xmas anyone? :D

Martin Skrtel claims to have given no thought to leaving Liverpool over the summer and is taking aim at the top four.

Regular rounds of speculation suggested that Skrtel could have been on his way out of Anfield prior to Monday's deadline - with former Reds boss Rafa Benitez reported to be keen on a reunion with the no-nonsense centre-half at Napoli.

Skrtel has, however, revealed that no move was ever discussed as it was made clear to him that no sale would be sanctioned.

The Slovakia international is delighted to still be on Merseyside, after five-and-a-half years in England, and says an impressive performance in a 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday was not a result of him trying to justify his continued presence in Brendan Rodgers' plans.

Skrtel told SITA: "I'm staying at Liverpool. The rumours were never as strong as it was made out.

"Competition is big but when I look at how we have played, I would say that we belong in the top four."
    Martin Skrtel
"There has been no contact with other clubs because the Liverpool management told me that they were counting on me. That is why a transfer was never in my plans.

"I have never considered it (the United game) to be a chance to show that I deserve to stay at Liverpool. It was a big derby but, on the other hand, it was also just another league game."

Skrtel has seen his position come under threat from new recruits Mamadou Sakho and Tiago Ilori, but the 28-year-old says he welcomes added competition for places.

He added: "Players come, players leave, it's a normal thing and we will see how it develops."

Liverpool have opened the new season with three successive 1-0 wins and Skrtel believes they should be setting their sights on a top-four finish, regardless of the improvements made elsewhere.

He said: "You may say that the number of clubs competing is increasing from one year to the next. Again we have seen clubs spending big sums of money - (Manchester) City, Tottenham, Chelsea and even Arsenal.

"Competition is big but when I look at how we have played, I would say that we belong in the top four."

Wow, I'm genuinely surprised if that's the case.

The only thing to do is fall asleep (at my age :p).

What I fear is a season of 1-0 wins and nothing to argue about, beyond the most tedious details.

Delighted Skrtel still at the club, I'm a huge fan. Didn't have the best of seasons last season, but he just doesn't look comfortable in possession. Hoof away Marty my man!

we will beat Norwich 4-0 home and away, Luis has to get his customary hat-trick and Daniel will score in every single match

    Update on Glen:
Liverpool have confirmed that Glen Johnson suffered a high ankle sprain during Sunday's 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Anfield.

The defender was forced to withdraw from the England squad after sustaining the injury.

After being examined by the club's medical staff at Melwood, Johnson is required to rest his ankle this week.

A further review will then take place to check stability and decide on further management.

Therefore, Liverpool have not put a timeframe on Johnson's return to fitness at this stage.

The slow motion views of both Johnson and Cissokho's injuries are nasty.

How did you find the atmosphere Sunday?

Seemed a lot better than last year. The early goal obviously helped

Was just reading there we made a late move for wesley sneijder but he didn't fancy us. So important we get back into cl to start attracting the quality signing we missed this window. Exciting to have a manager going for the likes of Costa, willian, sadko etc. Can only imagine if BR got the signings he wanted this window..

    Read this too.

Alderweireld: "Liverpool, for example, appeared in the last few days. The truth is that Atlético made a huge effort to convince me."

    Our next few fixtures are

    Swansea (A)
    Southampton (H)
    Sunderland (A)
    Crystal Palace (H)
    Newcastle (A)

Am i being ambitious in thinking that we could get 13 points out of a possible 15 from those games we have coming up? Is 15 points out of the question considering the start we have had?

Or am I away with the fairies?

Any dropped points will be disappointing, but as has been said, winning all 5 is very unlikely, as slip ups tend to happen even to reliable teams (which we have still yet to prove we are).

Looking at those fixtures, obviously you are always disappointed not to win at home so I would say the Soton and Palace games we should defeinitely be expecting 3 points.

I would add the Sunderland game to that - they seem to be poor this season and had a pretty poor end to last season.

A win and a loss in the other two, or two draws to keep us unbeaten would be a successful return.

Par = 10 Points imo, and I'd probably deal on 11 or 12 if you offered it to me now

Looking at the new recruits I imagine we will 3 at the back and no Lucas for a decent amount of games.

I can't see Rodgers changing his system to accomodate players at all. I can't see us changing a system which has provided great results this calendar year, the players are becoming comfortable with the shape of the team on the whole, we haven't conceded in 3. No need for it and i don't think it'll happen.

Swansea away is a tough call, no shortage of motivation or ability on their part, if we scopre early we all no how the 2nd half will pan out, retreat and fend off the siege. Hope not, we need to grow in confidence enough to keep our foot on the gas and kill off teams when we are top.

And that skill drove my Utd supporting father mad on Sunday, to such q point he left tk go watch the all Ireland in the pub.
Compare Lucas to Cleverly and Carrick on Sunday in terms of card to foul ratio and Lucas comes way out on top.
However he can give away a few dangerous frees

    Might be a good call.

I'd hate on us to rely on the current system without adequate backup for Lucas.

An injury to him could be a major disaster tbh.
