So are people who were criticising the way the club was going about its transfer business this summer vindicated yet then?

Is there any scenario where an adult (I'm making a wild assumption that we are all adults here...) can be vindicated for acting like a petulant child?
By all means have an opinion that you don't agree with such and such, but I think the reason 'the people who were criticising' got up other peoples noses is because of the manner of the criticism, the wording used, farcical this, pathetic that, such and such is a clown etc etc.

Everyone on the board wanted new signings in July, we all want the same thing at the end of the day but there is a way to express your opinion.

Does SAF go to the games now?

Still recovering after the hip operation. I think he also said that he'd avoid OT for the first 4 -5 games so he wouldn't be seen to be overshadowing Moyes.

Sir Alex used to spout some rubbish in his post match interviews... storm in a tea cup over Moyes comments yesterday.

Not as much of a blatant Lie as that tho.

At least i hope he is.... Nobody in their right mind would say Utd played well yesterday.
If i was a journo i would have laughed in his face.

Funnily enough, a United supporting colleague who has bitched about every performance since pre-season was insisting this morning that United played pretty well.

I'm now sure he is a lunatic.

@EPLStuff BREAKING: Manchester United will sign 3 players today, according to latest reports from Manchester Evening News

    Any guesses?

    Ozil, Fellaini and Herrera perhaps

You only had to look at him & Neville to know how he really felt especially at Nani's free kick.

I'm hearing Mesut Ozil is agreed and done to Arsenal as a permanent deal.

Well im not sure what to think. This is a man who put a 39 year old in his starting team against Liverpool at anfield.

I get the impression it was more Moyes standing up for his team and his players. Keeping moral high after a defeat against a rival.

How many times did fergie do this in the past ? An interview after a game we lost and didnt perform in he would come out with all kinds!

Only difference is right now everything and anything Moyes does or says is gonna be judged in a very different way that we judged Sir Alex.

I wouldnt worry hes not stupid did anyone think he was gonna come out this early and say ya we played awful bla bla.

there is no vindication for either side to be honest -

those who slammed the club are correct as the deals should be done long time ago and the way we went about it was poor.

those who said lets wait until the window will also be right (we all hope so anyway) as players will be signed in the next 12 hours.

i said set a date of Aug. 8th before id pass judgement as imo thats as late as we would want to have new core singings in and we failed in that respect

Moyes has done ok and has identified good players for united to buy (apart from baines who just isnt worth his valuation on top of what we got).If Kagawa isnt fully fit then he was right not to bring him over nani as nani is a far better impact sub imo. I dont what he said about the team to the press yesterday but i sincerly hope he tore the team a new arsehole. we have been that bad before we had a lot of performances like that in 2011 too

Whilst i dont believe everything about the bids for Fabregas (i.e us low balling bids like 25mill) the people in charge of buying players need to pull their finger out if we have to pay 5-10mill more for 2 midfielders then just ****ing do it time for negotiation is long gone

Ive caved to reading boards after only 15hours:o

He did but mostly after an indept like yesterday he either held his hands up or balamed the officials or something.
I know(hope) that wasn't Moyes opinion of the game but it was just such a ****ing ridiculous thing to say it annoyed the **** out of me. The last thing Utd fans wanted to hear.

He looked foolish in that post match interview yesterday.

What's the latest on transfers now? Who are Utd most likely to sign, if any? If things were to happen, wouldn't we have heard something by now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,060 ✭✭✭✭adox

    Ozil, Fellaini and Herrera perhaps

Zero chance of that happening IMO.

Two of the above(not Ozil) is being extremely optimistic.

Jaysus, didnt expect to see posters on here starting to turn on Moyes so quickly.

werent the same ones saying a few weeks ago to give him time and relax?

I wouldn't read too much into what manager say to the media. Moyes comes across as an intelligent man and well media trained. He'll be looking for a response.

Very surprised that the Fellaini deal didn't go through first thing this morning. Not a great sign imo.

Im not saying he should be sacked or anything like that.
Just a blatant lie to the press that he thought the team played well....has annoyed me.

I think it would have but for the hiccup Everton seem to be having signing McCarthy with a bid turned down late last night.

Pathetic isn't it. There's a lot of United fans sounding like spoiled brats today.

always put you down as one of the people who said all summer that everything was ok, so why the change now?

I said at the time, the offers we were putting in did not make sense, which is exactly what I questioned in my last post. I still don't understand the offers.
    v3ttel wrote: »
I don't see a point in offering such a low bid for a two reasons.

    - The bid is so low, it's not even the basis for further negotiation. It's a waste of time as regards actually taking a step to sign the players
    - It pissed the off club, that it is highly unlikely we will get either of them for a reasonable price now that they feel we've acted the bollox with our valuation.

I understand the "don't offer your max price straight off the bat" logic, but f*cking hell, you have to start off with an offer that has some chance of being accepted. Offering significantly short of their worth is counter productive.

Some of the rest of us we were patient enough to wait and see how the entire Summer unfolded. In June/July, you were already at the stage that most of us are heading towards now, which I still think was ridiculous to be fair.

I was fully expecting something to be done before the season started on August 17th, failing that, something to be done before the very, very last minute.

I am all for giving him time, but that doesn't mean I would be blind to faults, and the ludicrous statement yesterday deserves to be criticised.

You think starting giggs yesterday was a good management decision??

    Are people blind or what?

    Ben Smith, BBC Sport

"Manchester United are definitely not in for Mesut Ozil. The Premier League champions are, however, working hard to sign Everton's Marouane Fellaini and Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera."

Herrera had a 36mill euro buyout clause if I'm not mistaken... so I would be happy with United paying anything from 36-42mill for him due to how badly needed he is. Not sure what the story with Fellaini is, but I would've thought 28-32mill would secure him with ease?

I agree in the main, I am not talking about the one or two posters who were on the extreme side of the criticism, Im talking about people like myself say who were very worried about how we were going about things all summer but did not go on about the sky falling or anything like that.

Can we stay away from tarring everybody with one brush?

Imo moyes has been very cautious with team selections and subs so far. Maybe he's afraid of making mistakes but he has to shake that quickly. Nani might not have been fit enough to last the match yesterday but start him and replace him if he runs out of steam. Cleverley didn't do much wrong against chelsea but didn't add a whole lot either so try anderson instead.

to be honest, even if Fellani comes in, its still going to be a really disappointing summer that promised alot.

not sure how i feel about Herrara at all, it will take €60million to get them both in....its a bit much and its very poor that the club has been reduced to this.
