Had a great pour last night , didnt finish up until half five . Up again at eight and filled the silage trailer with square bales and swopped them for a load of turf . I was as lucky as a black cat not to have a hangover :D

I saw a grand trailer with around a dozen silage bales on it parked on the hard shoulder yesterday. If it had been left there 4-5 months ago it would have been the equivalent of leaving a hot-hatch parked in certain parts of Dublin with the engine running and the doors open. There'd have been a chance it would be there when you got back.

busy morning,3 cows calved during the night, had to milk them , dose them with zanil, tag calves etc, when i was stomach tubing one of the calves i had to sit on it to stop it trying to get away and the milk was really thick and slow to go in. Had a cow with a kidney infection and another with a sore eye. Neighbour arrived looking for biestings when i was in the thick of things. 3 cows that calved all had pbm heifer calves:D

Ha and it's not even 10am yet, fun Sunday morning. The 3 pbm heifers are a worthwhile bonus though!

Have 3 line up for Hill 16. May even do better, in the meantime. Must get me a jersey too. €40, inflation has gone mad since the mid nineties.

What's the difference between a liquid and winter contract

anyone that supllied dublun dairies before it merged with glanbia would have a liquid milk contract. These lads wouldnt get paid the bonuses that a winter milk man would get. I dont know alot about it either but i know that theres a diiference.
If anyone else has more knowledge on it than me please explain.

if you hold even 1 gl of liquid contract, you are not eligible for the winter bonuses.

winter bonus is is only on a few month for a % of supply at a certain quality

liquid contract, means you are contracted to supply a fixed amount every day for 365 days, anything over this is paid at base manuf. price, unless u have another contract, such as a baileys contract

Id crack up if I had to stand on the hill for a few hours, my legs would be gone to jelly, had to give 80 for the stand tickets. Bought the new jersey a few weeks ago too!!

Any one interested in starting a thread about dairy farm partnerships? I am in North Tipp, good land, interested in long term dairy partnership. I have a job since 2001.
At the moment I have plenty of housing, 120 acres tillage, 80 grass. Contract grazing for the first time this year. I like it.
48, 2 teen daughters ( non farmers). Forestry investment is my thing.

    Any interest?
