After logging on to my.tcd.ie and going onto the finance section it says tuition fees 3,181 and student contribution 2500. I thought the state covers the tuition fees for irish citizens and we only have to pay the student contribution?

Don't worry about, you'll be invited to register soon and once you fill out all your details it will give you the correct finance statement

Yep, as Lawliet says, that portion will be waived during your registration process.

    "Formally begins September 2nd"

Essentially anytime between then and mid-end September.

Incoming students normally don't fully complete registration until during Freshers Week, some do but most need to complete module choices or hand in forms before registration can be completed.

I have the same problem (?). My fees should be as an EU student but what I've got in my finance section is for a non-EU student, around 17000 euro. I was seriously worried but I'm glad to find out it'll be sorted out soon enough.

My fees say 7190€ but I should be covered for free fees as I'm an eu citizen and this is my first undergraduate course, any1 know what the story is do we have to contact the college?
Have you read any of the posts in this very thread?

You'll get a "Pre-Registration" tab in my.tcd.ie soon. When you complete that, your fee statement will change (there may be a small time delay).

When they want you to pay fees, you'll get a message/"invitation". Until then, you shouldn't worry about fees for now :)

I'm going in to 2nd year of college, I was eligible for the Free Fees as I was a first time undergraduate, etc. Does it only count for your First year or your duration of the undergraduate course?

The duration, or rather- the first time you do each year. So you will get free fees for 2nd year, but if you fail and need to repeat, then you need to pay the fees, but when you progress to third year you will get them free again, etc.
