Someone coming up from limerick later to look at the golf. Is this normal behavior? Travelling that far for a fairly common car in the golf?

Had someone come up from Cashel for a 90bhp bora before, doesn't make any logical sense but sure if it sells the car ..

Yeah when something seems odd to me it screams scam. The woman sounded genuine but sure if there's a sold picture up later it will be all rosy!

The people that came for the bora were the straightest I'd met but they never even opened the bonnet :)

Drove from Limerick to Tallaght to buy a very cheap 98 Passat 2 years ago on new years eve. When I sold it on 6 months later, a guy came down from Naas and bought it. The spin from Limerick to Dublin is so handy these days

Yep, went off at about 12:15 and I'm just in bed now.
The car is pretty rough but myself and my passenger are 100%.

I wasn't even driving it on, I was coming down a slippery slope, brakes locked up before a bend and I went up a bank and into a fence.

Engine's still running, but the front axle and the body work are all ****ed.

Most important is there are no injured parties anyway, lucky as we stopped about 1.5 feet from a tree. That would have been a different story. :|

Horrible thing to happen but ya sure ya werent driving a bit too fast for the circumstances?

Drove past a 500l MPW earlier, surely that is the most pointless fugly car possible? I thought the whole appeal of a Fiat 500 was that it's a supermini, why would you want a horrid estate version of one?!

Driving too fast for the unpredicted mechanical failure ?

sure in that case we're all driving too fast on any road and any speed

What failure? It happens without abs.

Good that no one was hurt CianRyan.

I took brakes locking up to mean the wheels locked as he jammed on, it'd be very odd for brakes to lock on by themselves.

You're very long names screws with my screen

Highly unlikely it has abs, it wasn't standard on them. Could have been loose chippings, greasy surface or anything

Even 06 almeras don't have standard ABS

Yeah ya big meanie! Go away.

Well, I guess I can't say I wasn't going to fast for the road and conditions but I was below the speed limit and taking it handy enough because I had just come out of fog.
The road was slippy from the mist and light rain and the corner snook up on me (really annoying as I know the road really well), I stood on the brakes too hard and they locked up because the car had no ABS. cue me skidding about 10-15 meters down the hill, up a bank and into the fence.

I didn't make it through the fence though and the engine was still running afterwards so the inpact couldn't have been too sevire, sure the air bag didn't even go.

If I've learned anything it's to be more respectful of the weather and to learn how to pump a brake with no bloody ABS!
This Mazda is going to be a hand full, I've really just realised that.

A brown trouser moment if ever there was one.
At least you'll get a bit for scrap on it and it was only a fence.
Friend of mine wrote off his first car after skidding in ice and hitting a telephone/esb pole. Whoever owned the pole came after him for a new one. Ended up paying more for the pole than what the car was worth before writin it off.

Horsepower: How fast you hit the fence
Torque: How far you drag the fence with the front of your car after smahing into it.

    :pac:

I was only thinking of that on the Luas home, hanging my head in shame of my torqueless engine. :p

Must pop the bonnet tomorrow and see if I can saw the engine at least.
The wheels seem grand, which is good as they were always meant for the Mazda.

Glad to hear you are both ok Cian, I'd an almighty skid on a roundabout a few weeks ago (first rainy day after the really good weather)

In other news, the OHs new (to him) E200 sailed through the NCT this evening - jammy bastard :D

I don't mind the 500L although I think it would sell better if not associated with 500. I don't like the Countryman but I do like the Paceman - it's a Mini for people 2x the size of average people. The coupe and roadster I don't understand and I think it's just as well they've been discontinued.

Fiats product line for the coming years is just spin off's of the 500. I wouldn't mind if they had something better to offer but they won't.

Not that I dislike the 500, I love it

Cian if its any consolation my 406 is very tail happy (hard suspension) and often steps out in inappropiate scenarios (roundabouts, middle of the town etc) heh I guess its every yobs wet dream a piss handy car to drift :pac:

Never above 20mph, has abs and I have Michelin's at the back!

    Chalk it to experience :)

Oh and voodoomelon I'm up in Aikens for the next few days, I'll keep a look out for you :D
