I was only thinking of that on the Luas home, hanging my head in shame of my torqueless engine. :p

Must pop the bonnet tomorrow and see if I can saw the engine at least.
The wheels seem grand, which is good as they were always meant for the Mazda.

Lesson learned for ya, cars can bite. Could have been worse though, mate of mine crashed his car in the mountains a few years back, his girlfriend wasn't too impressed after when she realised he was up there with his bit on the side

Drove past Stheno's GTV today driving through Drumcondra, looks really well in person. Grey really suits it. Went for a wave but got the burn instead!

    :D

That was some accident alright Cian...

I just put up the guide on buying a car from Japan, hope it gets a sticky. I tried to cover all bases but in the end it was down to my own experiences with importing. Have a read and any criticism welcome. Going to bed now.

Fiats product line for the coming years is just spin off's of the 500. I wouldn't mind if they had something better to offer but they won't.

Not that I dislike the 500, I love it

I like the 500 too, thought about getting one last year but it tapers at the shoulder so was a non runner. I quite like the 500L but as I cannot see any styling cues from the original 500, I think they'd have been better off marketing it in a different way. Fiat have always produced good small-medium sized cars but I think the link in this case does not help. It's more Focus sized (or bigger) but I think it will be dismissed because it is linked to a very small car.

Rang a VW dealer on Tuesday to order some parts: "We don't have those in stock. We can order them, not sure when they'd be in, but it'd be a week at least."

Ordered the same parts, and more, on ecstuning.com. They left Ohio USA at 6PM local time on Tuesday evening, and landed on my desk at 10:30am this morning. Now that's service!

    Holy Christ batman that's fast!

Had to think if I was in Drumcondra yesterday, I was indeed!

    Didn't notice any waves :)

Aye I know what you mean. Its a lot bigger but still linked to the smaller car. Its a family type MPV and as I've no kids I wouldn't even consider it.

Rang Asgard, they won't insure anything under 1992. :|
So I have two options, wait out two months with no car or cancel my policy, lose my no claims and insure through another company.

    Fuxking Asgard.

Anyone know how to removed a tie rod end? I have it free from hub, but can't remove it from the arm.

Wind the lock not in towards the car then wind the end off.

Big vicegrips on the trackrod end to hold it

I have a torch on it for about 20 minutes. It still won't budge. The vice grip is on tight enough but turning on the rod. I wonder if it's easier to disconnect the whole inner part and slap it in a vice.

You will be very hard pushed to find anyone that will insure your car at that age. I rang a lot of companies a couple of months back and nobody was interested but AXA

Unless you buy another car and insure the 92 as a classic?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,871 ✭✭✭Scortho

Classic insurance is over 25 though isn't it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,902 ✭✭✭power pants

no, depends on the company, some will do it at 17 years iirc

    For the car?
Or the age of the driver?
I thought the driver had to be over the age of 25 before any of the companies will give classic insurance
