Mine failed due to the SystemUI.apk being modified for the circle battery mod I installed. Unrooting and getting rid of Busybox is easy. It's working out where else you may have modified the system that could be a pain, so from now on I'm keeping records and backups of every file I change.

I made the mistake that I didn't uninstall supersu. Got the update zip anyway & all sorted now. If only battery life was better, it's gone really bad.

Tell her to check Google device manager, if someone just swapped sims you'll be able to track it assuming she had device manager switched on.

Is it on by default? I don't remember switching it on on mine but I had a look at I can't see it's location, had the function to lock and wipe it turned off.

You should see the location assuming they haven't done a Factory Reset. I'm not sure if it would find it unless it's associated with her Google Account. You do need to turn on the permissions to wipe but locating should be doable.

I know it's a bit late now but an app like this would have been the job:
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lsdroid.cerberus

    And/or:
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidlost

I use both in addition to the Device Manager.

There was another one mentioned recently in the thread, I think it was a anti-virus app that had a good theft prevention part to it that embedded itself in one of the partitions so that even a factory reset doesn't get rid of it. Can't remember what it was though. Apps I might look into I think, I wouldn't be so happy to lose my Nexus!

I'm not sure it's for the best. You might need to buy the digitizer and screen assembly:
    http://www.spareslg.com/lcd-e-touch-lg-nexus-4-lg-e960-acq86270901.html

    It's €73.44 ex. VAT.

Read comments here about why it's not for the best to go solo on the glass:
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2366084

I recommend that you do some more research and see what's being said about replacing the front glass only before making up your mind.

    I too need a new screen :(

Deceifer, do you know of anywhere that replaces these in Limerick? (Assuming I buy the parts separately)

No clue, man. Sure there's places closing and opening every day, I can't keep track of it all anymore. There's definitely somewhere, there has to be!

You're probably better off going the DIY route emo, I've been quoted €150 - €180 & a lot of places don't fix them either

The video link on the LG site doesn't look that difficult and the savings from it would be worth giving it a go

    Good luck with it anyway,

Lads if your not interested in doing the DIY Screen fix yourself, fonemenders are doing it for €100 (screen with digitiser that DECEiFER linked)

    http://www.fonemenders.ie/repair+centres+ireland.html

They said it can take from 5days to 2 weeks as they order parts on a case to case basis from LG

Really good price considering it's approx €90 inc vat to get the parts

    Thanks pal!

Did you get that price by ringing them?
I see they have one in Catherine Street, Limerick. I can pop in after work and arrange a fix :)

I emailed them man and they got back to me with the €100 quid price (also on the docket they gave me).

Just dropped the phone off to them and they guy showed me the part (broken one from another phone) and it's the same one linked from the previous post so really good value, plus it won't void the warranty.

He did say LG can be slow shipping parts but will only take them an hour to repair

That sounds like a reasonable enough price, given the price of the parts on their own :)

Can I just make sure we're all talking about the same part here?
What I need is a new glass top that covers the topside of the phone, rather than the actual screen, which is underneath, and is perfectly fine!

Yeah it's a really good price tbf.

Its the front glass that is cracked in mine, so the LCD screen/display is perfect.

The digitizer is built into the front glass as in 1 unit so the screen & digitizer assembly is required, hope that makes sense.

Yeah, that makes perfect sense. It's all the one unit, so it needs to be replaced as a whole!

I'd rather pay 100 bucks to get it fixed, than 350 for another one :)

I need to get the chrome plated bezel replaced too, hopefully that'll be cheap enough!

EDIT: Nevermind, having looked at the picture in the link correctly, I can see it's essentially a repacement for the top part of the phone. Job done :)

I was rooted but still using stock. The update failed so I had to unroot & then the update worked.

Just saw that MKBHD had mentioned it on Facebook so I took a look for myself. Something's imminent...
