Same! I feel like I missed out big time :p
    I want in too!

Ok, so I just took the initiative to PM The red and green... hope I got the right end of the stick because if not then the poor lad is going to wake up to a nonsensical message :o

Well this progressed nicely since I went went to bed!

I have to say I had lost hope in this actually going ahead! :P
PM'ing The green and red now :)

I'm sure at least half of our course will be medicine rejects haha. Are you staying on campus? I was offered a room in Blackrock but I don't know whether to take it :S

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,167 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

No, I never stayed on campus, but a room on the Blackrock accommodation would be worth taking. You can get the 17 bus over to school every day and the place is nice and quiet there.

I feel so left out because I went to bed early! :/ Bad move by me!

    I want in!! :D

Same here, last I checked the thread was only discussing accommodation and then BAM Chinese food & Kings! :D

Damn, ye made a lot of posts since I last read this page. Up to 14 pages from 8!

But yeah, hi! I'm Jack. A few of you might know me from the LC forum. I will be living on-campus in Merville and studying Computer Science this year anyway. From Limerick btw.

Also, have spent the last 20 minutes flicking through justeat.ie to see who my new pizza place will be. :D My recommendation (without having tried any of them) would be Mario Brothers Pizza who do a 15" pizza for 9.99 plus 2.50 delivery until 5am on Fridays and Saturdays. 1am the other nights. Also, 4.5 star rating! Just thought ye should know! :pac:
Is this everyone? PM me if you want in
    PM sent
    pretty sure it's private
There is an option to make it secret which is generally preferable for boards forum groups. It means it won't ever appear on newsfeeds and stuff 'cause I doubt many of us want to explain to RL'ers the fact that you have online friends! :P

Yeah, got a place in Merville! I'm sure nearly everyone in our will want to do medicine. :p

Are there many/any students commuting to UCD from Wexford/Enniscorthy/Gorey?

I'm a incoming first year and haven't had a campus accommodation offer.

I'm going to commute for first few weeks, get settled in, make new friends and hopfully find a place to rent.

Is this a good or crazy idea? has anyone else considered doing the same?

If it's a reasonable commute then it might be ok. Think there'll be a few doing so from further afield, going by the amount who've yet to find accommodation.

If I don't get accommodation I'll be looking to do similar, only a longer journey!
Think I could bear a week of that but that'd be my limit!

So anyone have an idea of what electives they're going to pick?
I wanted to do something with French but after looking through the list of modules I'm not really seeing one I like in the Level 1 modules. I might just try a beginner's level module in maybe Spanish or Italian, nothing too challenging anyway! Also thinking I'll do an in-program elective for the 2nd semester, I'm thinking "Vet career orientation and professional development", should come in handy :) .

I was thinking of doing French and Chinese language, especially French because I want to do Erasmus in third year. But I still need to look into it a bit further!

Doing Erasmus in France would be amazing, pretty sure I can't go on Erasmus in vet med but if I could it would definitely be top of the list for me.
I've always been fascinated by Chinese too but the whole different alphabet thing seems so difficult, might look into it though :D

You might not be able to do erasmus but you do have the opportunity to go abroad in the summer of 4th year going onto 5th year, I think. I know when my sister was in vet med in UCD she got to go to Virginia to a stud farm! And her friend went to a Safari somewhere in Africa.

Yeah I think I saw something about that on the UCD website, I had no idea I'd be able to go to a safari in Africa though, I've always wanted to do that!! :D

Well I dearly hope I can do Erasmus, I'm doing engineering? I've tried to do Chinese before but I just gave up because of the way each word had it's own character...I'm hoping for a different outcome this time :P

I wouldn't mind doing some sport science module either!

Took a quick glance at the ucd website and you get to go on Erasmus in 3rd year, lucky! :P
To be honest I wouldn't mind doing most modules as long as they're reasonably interesting/useful and not super difficult.

Haha thanks! :P But yeah, as long as you get interesting electives it'll be great! It's good that they have the option of doing two random modules!
