DIY rod guide repair

One of my rods has a crack in the guide i want to tackle it myself and replace the broken guide. Problem is im short a couple of materials to replace the guide.

I have the replacment guides and some hot melt glue. Im missing the 2 part epoxy and binding thread. Is there any alternitive i could use to secure the guide?

I heard of people using normal sewing thread (or upholstery thread) and nailvarnish too but I don't know how well that stands up.

Ended up ordering from http://www.guidesnblanks.com found them a little cheaper not bad for postage too.
