I can not see them getting more in after the first batch arrive till next year, it is far too small a window, but its not like they will be losing that much money, people could go in and get a 400 euro gift card and give it to their kid for Christmas.

I take it you don't have kids.

That would go down like a lead balloon on Christmas morning.

I'm another who believes you will be able to walk into stores and buy one before Xmas.

haha - you may as well just hand them a note saying:

    'IOU 1 PS4'

Just don't walk out with a WiiU or your kids will legally divorce you!

I got a IOU 1 PS2 and Tekken Tag Tournament in a Christmas stocking in 2000, as a kid I was devastated, they were like gold dust then, turns out the PS2 was down in my grandparents house, should of seen the look on my face when I saw it.

Would there even be much savins with a bundle?
General rule is the more crap you buy, the bigger the saving. But, chances are, you're buying stuff you don't really want. You know yourself what they'll do: ps3+controller+battlefield+camera+some crap game that they know won't sell.
I can't imagine the savings being great for release, no shops need to attract customers for the PS3 so no real need to offer really good value bundles. But you never know! As long as I get one good game on release I'll be happy because personally I'll have GTA5 and the new PES on the PES3 to keep me happy.

If it were up to me, I'd personally wait for a PS4 rather than get an xbone. As a parent though, kids'll play any old crap :P

I was down in Xtravision in Finglas yesterday and they told me that they're still taking preorders for the 2nd batch which they believe they'll arrive before Christmas (the manager was very adamant about this). Might be worth a punt for some distressed parent out there. €10 deposit.

Just saw this on the Smyths website
Expected Date Available: 29th November 2013

At this time, Sony has not confirmed final launch allocations of the PS4 Console. Customers who placed their deposit with Smyths in- store before 7th August 2013 will have priority over available stock at launch.

Any customers who pay a deposit after 7th August 2013 will be given priority over additional stock as it becomes available, so the best way to make sure you get your hands on a console as close to launch day as possible is to place a deposit in any Smyths store.

It doesn't really clear anything up. You could have pre ordered before the 7th of August but be around 100+ on the pre order list??

They are trying to cover themselves, they have already stopped saying that you will be guaranteed one for Christmas if you pre-order, might be looking at stock shortages possibly? They say they will have priority over launch day stock if they pre-ordered by the 7th, but that could mean that the first person on their list will get one and so forth till the stock is gone, but if they only get 50 in, then only the first 50 will get one.

How long will it be till they know what their stock allocation is would you say?

I would say very soon, mate of mine is the manager in Gamestop in town and they were told they could only take so many pre-orders, and he does not expect his store to get more than 100-150 consoles in and he has not heard anything yet about a second batch being released, but he said that things can change quite quickly.

And those 100+ consoles would have been part of the orders that smyths gave to Sony before the deadline, and then sony got back saying they can't cover anymore.

Id be delighted if that the case with Smyths.

I'm around 70 -75 on the list in my local smyths.

Hi guys I was in Carrickmines Harvey Norman today and I was told that I'm guaranteed 100% if I pre order on launch and that they've not had too many pre orders so pre order there I'm queuing at 7am anyway there open at 9.30 ;)

Just saw in Harvey Norman Drogheda today that they are still accepting pre orders. Bit weird considering I am reading so much about places refusing any more pre orders!

Did not know they were selling the consoles, did not see any advertising for it.

Not really a big deal I'd say for HN considering the range of products they sell. Probably make same profit from 3 piece suite as 20 ps4s.

Has anyone else preordered a PS4 in HN with a promise of day one?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,835 ✭✭✭✭cloud493

Didn't even know HN were taking pre orders on it. One near me seems to be downsizing its gaming.

Went into the HM in town today to pick up a new toaster and asked would they be getting the PS4 in and they looked at me like I had 10 heads, if they are, the staff have not heard anything yet, so might not be all stores.

As I've pre-ordered PS4 late on Amazon.co.uk, something struck my interest when I questioned them about delivery of their second batch of stock if the first has already been delivered. The live chat rep on Amazon.co.uk stated "Yes, we guarantee release date delivery for customers within UK. As this address is outside of UK, this order did not qualify for release date delivery."

So is this a case of discrimination from a website if your money comes from outside the UK or did I miss the small print somewhere?

Probably nothing to do with discrimination. More likely that there is no day specific delivery service that amazon use for Ireland!

I hope that's what they're implying and not, "well you're in Ireland, so you're dropping right down our list"!
