Anytime I see "HMV" I always think "Her Majesty's Vagina"

And I don't want a loyalty card for that.

Hope people start buying albums instead of games, this was the downfall of HMV, they forgot what they were there for . Downloads didn't help but true music lovers will ALWAYS buy albums etc.

10c in the euro for the old suppliers, a c*ck up the bum for voucher holders and landlords and the same old crap for sale? I'd give them a year before they're gone again.

Well, she deserves one for pushing Prince Charles out.

Have you seen the ears on him?

My impression is that some of those landlords are a significant reason they and many other shops went bust in the first place.
    Upward only and exhorbitant rents.
Landlords would prefer a place empty before dropping rents.

I miss HMV, I could actually get stuff I like there

probably one of the very last (if not the last) albums I bought there was The Gazette's Division, so I remember it quite fondly :)

Was probably one of the last albums I've ever bought in Ireland, even places that'd stock more obscure stuff in Dublin wouldn't have the music I listen to. :o

Almost every other album I've got since, I ordered from HMV in Japan though :p

    www.hmv.co.jp kicks ass ;)

No-one brings a gun to a rental agreement. No likey? No signee. Then if you do signee, no whingey. The old business plan had upwards only growth forecasts, how come it's all upwards for profits on the one side, and when it turns pearshaped, it's all downside for the suppliers? Phoenix springs to mind - rising from the ashes, the only question is who got burned? If I had bought a voucher, or supplied 100,000 cds I'd be p1ssed.

HMV need to be really be entrepreneurs now to stay alive. Perhaps going down the hooters root would be something that could work on this side of the pond.
Can you imagine popping into HMV and just browsing when a busty chick comes out of nowhere pressing up against you with the latest "Now" albums and whispers into your ear that she loves having sex while listening to track 8.
Or for the ladies they could have some Abercrombi and Fitch model lookalike press their groin into their rear end and hand them a One Direction CD.
    Sex sells.

I think the gun may invalidate the contract.
Suppliers fine, but if your voucher is is turned down, talk to the landlord, they are taking the cash even if the retail has dropped. Business plans for landlords too.

Now Teddys upward only ventures, there's a plan;)

What's this now you say NuckingFacker? So unless my 12 years learning Maths in primary and secondary didn't teach me anything (and it didn't)...a €40 voucher I process is only going to get me €36 worth of HMV-delightfulness?

And then sit around in a circle and jerk each other off

are they selling games again? With the extortionate prices GTA is being touted at, i hope so. *i don't wanna hear the bleeding hearts telling me they need to sell GTA at such a price*

How can the place even survive with youtube and xbox live and xtravision around.

They better get selling something else different than before.

That idea is both disturbing and workable. Bring it on. :D

A guy asked me today, "are you sure HMV is back?"

I replied, "I'm not sure, I'm HMV positive!"

Feck sake, Dublin and Limerick? They could at least reopen the Galway one, maybe even Dundalk.

Having albums in physical form does not necessarily mean that you are a truer lover of the music itself over those who don't. It's just an old fashioned way of looking at it. The same way you can be a huge fan of a tv show but not own the boxset.

It's good to see HMV reopening but I hope they've learned from their mistakes. Hopefully no more overcharging for albums and a bigger selection of vinyl.
