How does the multiplayer work in these games, especially the older ones. I remember with fondness rage the many, many times me and my mates tried to get C&C/Red Alert 2 going on a LAN over IPX.

From the ones I've played its easy enough to set up normal WAN games, haven't tried LAN, but you can just setup private games. The ones I've played still have a pretty decent online presence too still.

The Witcher series are on sale on GOG.com at the moment, I'd recommend!

EDIT: Also on steam but its cheaper on GOG.com.

Damn that's tempting. Already own a few of them but having them DD with the DLC would be nice.

That often goes on an even greater discount. Just be patient. I think I got them all for €7 or €8. :)

I think (not sure but) do you not get a steam key with the witcher from gog? Or is it the other way around, buy on steam and get access to downloads from gog?

GOG uses DRM free games so no you don't get a Steam Key.

€7 each or total? If that's total then there's a negligeble difference between the GOG offer and Steam itself, given the conversion rates. Bought Witcher 2 during the Steam sales and only picked up the original Witcher on GOG now.

Dont forget you get a GOG backup if you buy either of the witcher games on steam: www.gog.com/witcher/backup

I'm still missing some of the main games as well, especially the earliest ones.

The first 3 (Tiberian Dawn, Tiberian Sun and Red Alert) were released as freeware a few years ago. You can legally download them for free here.

For those that dont know, the going rate for Rayman Origins and a pre order of Rayman legends on steam, is 7tf2 keys, so about €11. See here: http://www.tf2outpost.com/search/142164783

2 great platforming games for a tenner is a great deal.

I have a laptop for steam myself, but maybe this should be renamed to PC gaming bargains, it's so overwhelmed by them. :P

Oh, here's a console bargain: Amazon dropped the price of pre-orders for GTA V:

Nice! It will more than likely be €45 in Tesco on release night, if not even cheaper!

    Hey guys ,

Just wondering should I take the plunge and buy the Sonic hits collection on Steam for €28 or should I wait I can't seem to find any cheaper deal same deal is on Greenmangaming for over €100 . I was going to splash out during the steam sale but was disappointed they reduced all the prices of the individual games by 75% but not the package price worked out under 2 euro dearer to buy all the games individually at the time.

(P.S thanks to all the posters who take the time to post the deals joined steam less than 2 months ago and I have 50 plus games in my library :o)

Yup, most new releases are 45 from Tesco. Also worth chancing your arm the day before release to see if you can get it early. Get someone to run out back to have a look for one and you might get lucky. Last few years I've got Fifa early from Tesco by doing that.

Also, not mentioned here, EA/Origin Humble added two new games - CnC Red Alert:Upraising & Populous.

xwis run the servers for the older games. It takes a little bit of effort to get it going at first. Basically the in-game registration is completely broken so you have to make an account on their site. Red Alert 2 is easy enough to set up when you figure it out, but tiberian sun requires port forwarding as well for the host server.

Buy it from amazon, buy it from Tesco if available, return unopened Amazon copy to Tesco when received.

Just ordered it from Amazon myself. Was going to go to Tesco on the morning of release but it's not gonna be much cheaper then the €43ish amazon are charging. No difference waiting a few days or a week really.

Haven't looked into it fully, but Deep Silver games are often region locked so I don't think you'll find anywhere super cheap like Russian/Brazilian stores.

Best bet is to have a look over on Cheap Shark or somewhere similar.

I just checked gamesnash and they got GTA V for 57eu. I love gamesnash and I would love to support irish business, but 57eu is way too steep for me ( considering I did not even planed on getting gta 5 on launch ). How does their lowest price guarantee works? 45eu from amazon looks like a hard thing to beat, but if gamesnash would do similar price I would gladly buy off them instead.

Another reason why adverts isn't as good as it used to be IMO. Blatant profiteering seems to be allowed now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 115 ✭✭Lyrical

I thought Adverts didn't allow that  I recall a similar situation an item had 75% off on bargain alerts, there was people bulk buying and selling it on adverts. The mods removed the ads and gave the sellers a warning. The ad that n1ck linked to he's after putting 5 games up the last 3 days from the origin bundle and nothing seems to be done about it.Fair dues to the guys who are commenting on these adverts and alerting potential buyers to the bundle.

But yeah its pretty low trying to sell these on for a profit.

I posted it on it and reported all the ads, hence the admin's reply on the ad because he deleted my post but I had only posted about how he had bought the humble bundle and that the ads were reported but Chewy went a step further! :D

All his ads have been withdrawn.

Not sure if this has already been suggested, but anyone looking for a bank for your buck with gaming should register for playstation plus! It is 14.99 for three months or 50 for a year. For that 14.99 you access to 12 top end titles which are updated every month, You can then keep what ever games were active while your account was open. Some of the titles I have enjoyed as a playstation plus member are as follows... Saints row 3, The most recent hitman, need for speed most wanted, uncharted drakes fortune, Battlefield 3 and loads more... You would think you would only have older titles and b list games but take a look and i assure you, you will be surprised!
