The console, sorry but not a hope, you will be put on a list for the second batch or with the hype now possibly a third batch list.

Ah bummer, when will the second batch be out?

A very very slim chance before Christmas, but realistically some time in January or early February at latest.

For some reason I think people are worrying about nothing. I would be shocked if people dont get their console before christmas.

Well you will be shocked then, unless you pre-ordered, quite a few people here pre-ordered back in February.

So what, there has only been 1M orders so far.

Smyths promised me I would get the PS4 no problem before Christmas.

when did they tell you this, as i was on the phone earlier this week to the 2 stores in cork city and both said they could give me no guarantees about when i would get it. the lads on the phone were unsure even what stock they were getting and said to ring back early next week as they might know more. i just pre ordered on amazon just in case, even though it is just in hope they will alot more stock and i might get it before Christmas

Really, if I was you I would be worried, did you ask where you were on a list, if Sony do not release a second batch, you will not be getting one before Christmas.

Im not worried at all, Sony will have plenty of stock. If I miss out, then I miss out but like I said I think this is all a big panic for nothing.

Sure wait till launch day and people start looking for proof that you actually got the console, will be like the snow threads over on the weather board, unless your name is written somewhere beside it, it did not happen :pac:

Looking at Gamestop to preorder, does it make any difference to preorder online or instore? Is there a better chance of getting it sooner by going into the store?

Hard to say really, you may have a better idea where you are on a list in store. I pre ordered online 19 June and expect mine on launch but for new orders its hard to say where you would be placed in the next batch!

For the people who haven't a pre-order yet. Could be worth ringing other shops that do electronics to see what the story is. Currys/Dixons/PC world, Argos, Power City, DID Electric.

I refuse to believe that the whole country or any country will run out of PS4's before Christmas. Sony have seen how high demand is through pre-orders and would be fools to believe that everyone who wants a new console will pre-order. so where some people may not get a day one console from thier pre-order shop of chose, sony will make sure it is fulfilled with spares for people who didn't pre-order before Christmas or risk sending needing parents to xbox for a console. with sony not setting a release date in japan it shows they want to saturate the rest of the world market with PS4's to prevent losing people to the competition.

People probably thought the same in Nov 2005 when 360 launched, and Oct 2006 for PS3 and look how much of a bollix they both were.

I bought 3 ps3 before that Christmas no problem. Two in Harvey Norman and one in smyths.

I didn't pre order and I got the games I wanted.
Time will tell but I think there will be plenty of stock

I've been watching re-runs of Father Ted - the one where Father jack adopts a brick as his pet. I'm confident that with a brick by my side, I may be able to grasp a PS4 from some unsuspecting purchaser on launch day. The scene where Ted falls over the brick in the living room and nearly cracks his head springs to mind. Now.......to the drawing board to measure Gamestop doorway distances and brick diameters...............:pac:

True they did make a bollix of that. but the consoles came out so far apart that it was possible for everyday normal guys like myself to save for both, making the demand for each higher then if they came out together like they are now. so fewer people will buy both lowering the demand for one over the other. plus both companies have learnt there lesson about that as sony are focusing on the us and european markets first then moving home and xbox have lowered there expected number of release date countries from 30 odd to 13 now, showing that they too want to saturate the markets they deem the most imporant to get a foot fold in.

You probably won't get a release day one if you preorder now. No bundles yet as far as I know.
I preordered a while ago, as long as I get either battlefield or call of duty and a second controller I'll be happy enough

I've heard that the xbox is being bundled with cod ghosts in the us with no reduction of price. if its true i dont see the point in doing bundles at all.
