Yes, but not for a while when it's reviewed properly, etc or drops in price
Really don't know. I really hated Blops 2. Played some MW3 recently and enjoyed it but it was the first time I've played COD (other than a bit of MW2 when drunk) in months. Was hopelessly addicted to MW2 at one point.
    I blame Treyarch

I only stuck on MW2 and 3 yesterday for some hungover COD playing, 3 is grand, 2 is still a great laugh, the maps are brilliant.

I have a screw loose when it comes to MW2 and still love it. Anytime I jump into a map I'm undescribably happy. I'd still be playing it but the hacked lobbies thing can be tiresome. The people I play with also go mental when they see me on it as I won't play Blops 2 with them.
Used play it on really crappy internet. It could be as frustrating as hell but I still remember it fondly.

I stopped playing Call of Duty after Black Ops 1. It's a good game and I would admit I had very good times back in the days, but my game preference has moved on sadly.

Played it for a few games yesterday and there was only one clown danger close tubing, rest of the players were grand, and yeah I dunno if it's just familiarity or what but I feel way more content playing on a map like Highrise or Afghan than any subsequent game, map wise its the best COD game imo, balance would be COD4 aside from the stupid amount of grenades around the place.

Ghosts will be a day one purchase for me and I'll buy the PS4 version when it comes out, I just hope they allow you to carry your Multiplayer rank over to the new console.

No offence Mac, but I really don't get how you aren't bored of the games considering it's the only game you play. I adore COD4 and it's my favourite COD game, but I couldn't play it continually like yourself (just going on what I notice people are playing whenever I sign in). I'd need to play other games in between the big sessions of COD.

People like myself hope that they might surprise us and bring back the good ol days. I'll always have a lot of time for talking about COD, just not playing it the way the series has gone.

I wont be buying another COD ever again anyway and look very much forward to the Titan fall.

But getting back to COD, I love the series so much but they have truly ruined the series for me, COD4 was the defining game of the series and still has a large amount of pc gamers to this day. I would love to see them go back to their roots with a WW2 shooter and take the futuristic crap out of the game. The game today is catered to kids tbh (which is ironic since its an 18 cert game). Since MW3 it has been the same rehash of crap over and over again. I truly miss playing the COD series tbh. I do play ops 1 but that is just because of Nuketown and that game is barely played these days and all the good players are gone.

My dream would be an update to COD4

Of course I'll buy it on Day one. I bought Call of Sniper Black Ops 2 on day one, just like all the other COD games. I can't wait to play it on the Xbox one, maybe it will be the free game you get with the console, although it looks like it will be FIFA 14, which I have absolutely no interest in. Oops, I've said too much.

I'll buy Battlefield as well and only play it for a few weeks as I run around like a headless chicken and get my head blown off left right and centre. I'm pretty good at BO2 but useless at BF, strange, (no, I don't use a sniper rifle in BO2).

That's only an expression Nuri, I'm a real tem player, normally. My friends try an encourage me to play BF. It does look absolutely beautiful and plays very well.

By the way, the game I'm most excited about is TitanFall, I hope it's as good as it looks!

Fair enough. You really should like BF if you're into team work and winning, and instead of earning killstreaks, you are the killstreak :) BF4 looks ridiculously good.

Titanfall does not nothing for me honestly, never been really into the futuristic/space and alien related first person games like Halo. I'm sure it'll play well though.

What sort of difference can we expect? I mean will there be pretty much no lag or will it make much of a difference at all?

your always going to get lag but it will help alot and I presume they'll be using the new matchmaking system which should divide pings and as a result it will be much better

If you're playing large games it'll make a big difference, like Ground War. If you just play league or small 4v4/3v3 games you won't notice it at all.

I skipped BO2 because of how big a piece of **** MW3 was. Truely shocking just how bad it was.

I have totally kicked the CoD habit now and get my fps fix from BF3.

That being said, CoD 4 remains one of my favourite game of all time and the best multiplayer experience I've had to date.

I believe that the Xbox one Game servers will be in Sandyford, that should mean practically zero lag for everyone in Ireland. It's not that long ago that most games had game servers and it made a huge difference. At the moment if the hosts connection is erratic it really affects the game and even kick everybody out, I'm sure we've all had that experience in BO2, Having centralised dedicated servers will make a huge difference to the gaming experience, I can't wait for it. Microsoft are spending a fortune on these servers and it's all for our benefit!

Has anyone here pre-ordered it yet? If so, how much will it cost? I was lucky enough to get a copy of Black Ops 2 last year on release day for 40 euro. It had Nuketown code aswell :P Mite try the same again this year

Sad to say I won't be spending money on any Call of Duty product this year or for the foreseeable future. It's not that the franchise are bad games in and of themselves, they're not. They're decent and you know what your getting when you hand your money over. But therein lies the problem. I won't be spending money on it because I already own it. They're good and I'm sure Ghosts will satisfy millions, however it's nothing we've not been playing for the last seven years.

I just don't see the practicality or financially savvy aspect of parting with 60Euro for, what I consider, a glamorized map-pack. I don't dislike the series for the sake of it. But I do want to see improvement, creativity and innovation in the video games industry. The bottom line is, I'm bored. I'm bored with Call of Duty. Had my fill. It simply doesn't entertain me anymore which is a shame because I have some fond memories and laughs shared with mates over a few beers during the years. Forget about the name. It doesn't matter what it's called. If TitanFall was renamed Call of Duty Ghosts, then I'd have had it pre-ordered from Day 1. Why? Because it's different. It's the next "step-up". The next level. And it looks extremely enjoyable. That's what I want CoD to be. But it's not. It's simply the same tried and tested formula which is becoming more and more stale with each passing episode.

COD4 was a masterpiece. Yes, it had it's flaws and so too did MW2. I'd even include BO1 in that. But these games felt like they were made with "passion". It felt like the developers really tried, no matter what, to bring us the very best game they potentially and possibly could. The last two installments (MW3 and BO2) felt like, for all intents and purposes, cash-in's. Like they were just "going through the motions". We've come from a game-changer in COD4 to a product designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator in search of a quick buck and while I applaud and congratulate Activision for making their billions of dollars, it's just not me (not that they care about one sale of course). It's just my genuine feeling. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and this is mine.

I was, honestly, pumped up for BLOPS2 last year. Couldn't wait to get my hands on Zombies which is primarily why I bought the game in the first place. I have that feeling again this year but it's not for Call of Duty - it's for the unbelievable array of fantastic games that are just on the horizon. There are some genuine distractions coming - GTA5 (we've waited five years and the "real" hype; not that "manufactured" sort is almost palpable), Battlefield 4, Killzone, Destiny as well as TitanFall. And that's not even considering the release of the new consoles along with the plethora of new non-FPS titles they'll bring to the table in the coming months.

When I finally got my head around the beginning of this new era, Call of Duty: Ghosts just doesn't seem.....well, worth it. There are a couple of things that grinds my gears about the CoD series, not least this - why don't they open the gates to the community and do more to get us involved in their product? After all, we're the consumers. We should have input as to what's in the game and what's not in the game. I can guarantee that BLOPS2 and MW3 would have been far better games on the whole had they done this. There is never even a BETA - what exactly are they trying to hide?

If memory serves me correctly, MW3 was a hell of a buggy game upon release. BLOPS2 remains bug filled with injustices and dodgy events. The MW3 problems weren't even ironed out by the time BLOPS2 dropped which says to me that these games are not fit for release and should have never been given the go ahead for GOLD STATUS. I believe the developers need more time to work on these games. If COD is indeed breaking sales records left, right and centre, then why is the posterboy for the videogames industry not flaunting the best money can buy in terms of mechanics, graphical aspects, etc.

I wish Call of Duty well and I hope it improves and becomes enjoyable for me again. If that occurs and they bring something new to the table further down the line then rest assured I'll be first in line to buy it. Until that day comes I'll be trying new things and investing in other companies products.

Yousef, I have to agree with most of what you have said, the latest iterations of the COD franchise do just seem like map packs. In fact, my gaming buddies are always saying it would be great if we had one COD game with all the best levels from the different franchises. BO2 is just a map pack for BO, MW3 is just a map pack for MW2. But I will say that some of the levels in MW3 are brilliant. We have a LAN party every Thursday night in Stepaside and the small intense levels go down the best, and this is where BO2 really fails, no small levels except Nuketown. Zombies is great, but not all of us play it, but the newer Zombie levels in the Map Packs are fantastic. Some of the two player modes are missing from Black Ops, which are sorely missed.
We would play Battlefield 3 a lot, except it doesn't have System Link, so that is a complete waste at a LAN party. What were they thinking?
The odd time we go retro and play COD2 for a bit of craic. It's very simple, but just so much fun! It's very, very enjoyable and hugely playable. The Campaign was probably the last good Campaign in the COD series.
    COD Ghosts Cinematics:
If I want to watch great cinematics I'll go to the cinema, if I want to play a game I'll use my Xbox. I don't want to sit there and watch non-interactive cinematics in a game, it just bores the hell out of me when I'm playing. It would be great if there was a toggle switch to switch cinematics on or off.
COD 3 World at War was the real disaster, laggy, freezing, crashing. There were lawsuits brought against Treyarch in the US for releasing such a buggy game. It took a long time to release it. I don't remember any huge problems with MW3, but certainly BO2 has had many connectivity issues, some of which still haven't been resolved.
Everybody is talking about Titan Fall. Microsoft should concentrate on releasing that on day 0ne, but it's too late for that now. They are saying Feb or March.
Some of my friends won't buy the Xbox One until more AAA games are ready. A new Halo and Titan would have made such a huge difference to pre-orders. Were Microsoft caught napping again?

Yeah I don't remember (m)any bugs in MW3. Blops 1 at launch was awful but improved. Blops 2 was awful at launch and I stopped playing quite early.
On reflection one of the worst things about MW3 was the DLC. Too much crap and not everyone buying it. I understand why they do it ($) but it really turned me off that game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

I liked the way you could disable the DLC within MW3 and search for games without having to delete it. They should have implemented that in BLOPS 2.

Didn't realise you couldn't in Blops 2. That sounds crazy. Played MW3 about a month ago and couldn't get a game until I turned off the DLC.
