Any chance of cutting down on the stuff about other clubs?...at best it clogs up the thread...at worst the lurkers will step in.

Considering what goes on in here, quick updates on things like this, which do affect us in a way, is hardly clogging up the thread any more than norm.

    It doesn't affect us.

Would offering them cash from a potential resale not be daft? Surely it's the player we need to convince to come once we are paying a price the club are willing to accept from us/spurs/others.

makes sense to me. Anzhi don't want their pants completely pulled down so will let him go for pretty close to what they paid for him eventhough his price has probably increased in their eyes. Plus if we sell him on at a profit next summer they won't look like mugs.

Like it or not, Everton has been the Closest to us Standings-wise for a few seasons now.

If we can discuss Spurs and Arsenal here as Potential Rivals for CL Spots, I don't see why Everton should be an Exception.

This is not the Everton or United thread.

Why do you insist on doing this everyday?

It better than allot of the speculative ****e that makes up 80% of this thread

I really don't see the issue with Raif posting about Everton. Not only are they in the same city and direct rivals, they finished ahead of us last year.

We talk about Spurs and Arsenal all the time, yet we still have to overtake Everton.

How does it not? A team above us is potentially weakening.

they play in our league. we'll be playing them both twice this season. certainly some kind of connection.

Is it not even slightly relevant that clubs LFC aspire to compete against are in the market with bids for further strengthening whilst current direct rivals may be depleted? All the while not a lot is happening on the transfer front at Anfield.

It may be superfluous i guess but it still hammers home Rodgers needs to get his ass in gear. Really can't afford to stand-still this summer or worse, fall further behind the squad depths at the likes of Utd, Spurs, City.

This is a pivotal summer window, it's the difference between aiming to compete this season with the best or aiming to be the best of the rest.

That's not a bad figure for an Opening Bid. But I doubt Everton would sell this late.

Besides, why didn't Man U make a Bid before Fallaini's Release Clause expired?

Cause moyes is trying to screw his former club, and get them on the cheap. classy guy!

You can say that about every other team in our league.

Hardly fair to say he is classless over that, a better term would probably be......Scottish.

Anzhi should be wary, there are ways around % sell on clauses.

Just reading there that the peno save was the first save in a league game at anfield in 14 years.
Westerveld save from Suker V Arsenal in 99 was the last and there was 14 in between that were all scored.
Only one penalty a year given at Anfield?

Surely that figure cant be right:confused:.

And i promise i wont call you Shirley any more.:)

Interesting to see the 'Average Position' chalkboard.

Toure: We saw him as a replacement for Carragher, largely because he was experienced and free.

He's a very different player however, and that chalkboard illustrates it to an extent. Interesting to see Agger the further back of the 2.

2 centre-backs who can run forward from defence and will not be content to just limit their defending to just staying goal-side of the man.

Enrique: Needs to be more where Johnson is.

I like Enrique, but it's clear that as an offensive, wide-playing fullback he lacks a bit in terms of decision-making and cross execution.

Cissohko certainly has an opportunity to rob this place if he can show that he is reliable defensively, while offering more in attack

Gerrard and Lucas: Almost on top of each other. I though there was very little difference in the role they played on Saturday. I was impressed with a couple of very forward-thinking passes from Lucas.

I think we will see a 2-1 midfield this season. Lucas will be asked to do more than just sit, and Coutinho will ideally play ahead of them.

I thought both had very tidy, very solid games on Saturday. Keeping both fit could be key.

Aspas: Very central for someone who is supposed to be playing wide, but I suppose our wide-forwards are given licence to drift.

Diffiuclt to read much into Henderson and Coutinho given their switch in position in the 2nd half.

Your forgetting he's the welsh xavi, which makes him very rare indeed. Worth nearly as much as the welsh Ronaldo if well maintained:)

I can't believe you would post that in here, of all places

Well Arsenal directly bid for Suarez, I suppose Spurs and them are our target this year. Tbh, there's a Summer transfer thread and the club's superthreads for speculation and rumours. I don't know, it seems to be stretching it a bit.

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

It's difficult enough tredging through some of the bile without also having to skip through reading about other teams supposed transfers.

It's not hallowed ground but it would be nice to stay on topic.

Nobody said its hallowed ground but its not the dumping ground for every little story that pops up. There is an Everton thread, a United thread and a summer transfer thread that it should have been posted in.

Noted by Raif, I'm sure. This is probably derailing it more for people who didn't care in the first place :)

Turns our Shelvey could cross the ball fairly well, unless he's only learned in the last 2 weeks. Fair play to him.

Most of what appears in here should go in the 'Handbags' thread.

So you have no interest in the teams above us/direct rivals, and whether or not they are weakening/strengthening?

Raif had a quick post on something I would wager few knew about, I certainly hadn't heard yet, and I'm glad he did.

As good a contribution to this thread as any I've seen this morning. Not like we had a ten page conversation about it - which would be ridiculous and then the criticism justified.

I bet if you replace Everton in Raif's original comment with Arsenal or Spurs and nobody would have batted an eye lid. Ridiculous when we were closer, while still being behind, to Everton than the other two in recent times.
