An Everton spokesperson briefed the Echo. You can be certain a bid was made, whether or not it was the fee reported is another thing, but I'd say it wouldn't have been far off.

a bit late but what were people thoughts on the game...i was quite disappointed to see giggs in the line up to start the moyes era, also no game time for kagawa, but you can't argue with a 4-1 win away to a team I thought would cause us some real problems...great start

saying that though the 1st 25mins or so were awful, cleverley in particular but carrick looked half asleep misplacing passes. paddy too looked his dis-interested self when the winger breezed by him a couple of times early on and he didn't bother chasing...it was worrying at that stage...
DDG had a dodgy save to his left that almost led to a goal only for the offside call, he really should have pushed that wide or even held it

you really can't underestimate how important RvP is in the team though, up until his goal it was looking bleak and flat...he's an expert finisher, a game changer, and our championship hopes rest with him...

Worried about Rooney too...was great to see the fans give him a good welcome (heard he got a good one in the warm up too), and delighted with his involvement too but I get what the commentators are saying about his demeanour after the 2 goals...I'd love to read nothing into it and write it off but it just doesn't sit well that there was no emotion there...I hope I'm reading it wrong because we really need him to stay

    Ah, cheers Blatter.

I'd say more than likely we'll get Baines & Fellaini tbh.

Not sure why people are offended or embarrassed by the alleged 28m bid. Would you prefer that we bid 80m?
28m that will go to 33m and then prob settle on 35/37m if we get both players.

Utd seem to want the players, I think Fellaini will want to go, so I think we'll get him.
Confused over the Baines part. Would be sad to see Evra go and can't see both staying.

Ronaldo rumors still won't go away. Watched Madrid last night and he seemed frustrated all game. It was a poor game from them tbf, maybe it was me hoping he was frustrated.

Monaco rumoured to be moving for Kondogbia so won't be long until we can officially tick him off the list.

We cannot ever lose Hernandez. He will be the best striker in the world some day.

He'll never even be the best in Manchester

28m is a good first bid. Now we should bid 27m for the two and say the offer will decrease by 1m every hour.

Should have both of them by lunch.

come off it with the hyperbole, there is a big difference between £28 and £80million.people are pissed off for a couple of reasons -

    we dont need Baines.
we know pretty well that we will not get Fellani for £16million, it will probably cost another £8-10million on top of that so why bother wasting time and insultin the club.

Fellani was available a few weeks back with a release claus that meant the deal would have went through quickly but we chose to ignore it on the crazy basis that they would expect less.

you can be pretty sure Everton won sell for less than £23.5million, but will probably want more now as they are under no pressure to sell.

Didn't think much of him watching him against us last week.

In fairness - that was a friendly game, 24 hours after he had played for them in the Europa (along with other players). I really don't think you can judge any of their players on that game.

I was obviously joking with the 80m (we're clearly keeping that money for Ronaldo......)

I agree with everything you've said. The only thing is you can't (as I'm sure you know) open the bidding at 35 or 40m as then they would want more again.

28m let's the players know we're interested and could even unsettle them into pushing for a move. Who knows?

Either way, I think we'll get Fellaini. Baines I'm not sure we need.

From twitter, thought this was funny
Ed Woodward doesn't care anymore. He's off his tits on Lemsip & wearing his tie around his head. Next a £9.5m plus add-ons bid for Iniesta.

    Question:eek:

We all know we are going to sign someone......we are, aren't we??

What signing would have you jumping/dancing around your living room ala RVP last season....I know I did when his signing was confirmed:cool:

Whilst not knocking or debating the adequacy of Fellaini (I have my own views on him) or Baines, neither would have me off the couch if/when confirmed...

Not exhaustive but these defo would:

Ronaldo (probably more than off the couch, possibly dragging herself upstairs...to help me put the posters back up you understand;) )
    Fabregas
    Modric
    Bale

....em, em running out of names now...
Any others? Make sure you think back to how you felt when RVP was confirmed

Fellaini would be an excellent addition to slot in beside Carrick.
Baines is an excellent player, but unless we have hired reliable psychics :P and know Evra is going to get a bad injury, then we don't need Baines this season, and Luke Shaw is the future player United should be interested in (but again not this season), he is far younger and already a shining talent.

Regarding Modric, apprently Spurs want him back as part of a deal for Bale, but Modric doesn't want to return to Spurs, but would be interested in a move to United.

United should have put most of that £28 million double bid for the Everton players towards the fund for Fabregas. Fabregas was playing yesterday instead of Iniesta. United really messed up there with the bids, and after the performance of Cesc last night, I can't see £40 million being anywhere near good enough - which has been rumoured as what United will offer as a final bid, if that rumour is true.
I hope Woodward and others behind the £25 million opening bid were watching Barca last night and felt ashamed of their opening and subsequent offers. Signing Fabregas is a lost cause, unless a miracle happens.

Watched Real last night, I thought Modric played very well in the deep role, especially after Khedera went off. I think he would be an excellent signing.

If anyone on the tweet machine likes following United peoples this guy is a good laugh more than anything insightful.
'Hello, do you have any Audi A8's in stock?'
    'No, sorry'
'That's okay, I'll take a packet of cheese and onion, instead.'

That was an excerpt from my short story, 'Ed Woodward Goes Shopping'.

looks like from reading here, and other forums, people have turned on Woodward completely now.

only person who can change this now, is himself.

lol. you just posted two things about him that suggest otherwise. that bearded genuis character you posted the is completely against him as are multiple fans.

I don't know what's more ridiculous, that offer or that we're looking to have two of the best left backs in the league in one team. Baines played every game in the PL last season and Evra played 34. It's ridiculous unless Evra is on the way out, which would be terrible, Moyes needs players like that around.

Some sources say Fellaini has 3 years left on his contract and Baines has 2, Everton are in full control. Martinez said he was sweating over the deadline day of Fellaini's buy out clause which says to me he values him at a lot more. We should have just bought him in July and got it over with instead of waiting until now, with 14 days left in the window, to lowball them. Everton don't need to sell their two best players now because it leaves them with little time to find replacements, they know that we need Fellaini and that we'll probably panic and pay through the nose near the end of the window to get him. United will pay 25+ million for Fellaini now, and I'd be surprised if Everton let Baines go for less than 15m.

So people can't make jokes now? bearded genius is so whiny i stopped following him. That article he did in The Mirror or whatever it was was awful.

Its a strange one this.... But surely Moyes knows the financial situation at Everton more than most.

I just cant understand how Utd or any other team for that matter didnt just bid the amount(23mil approx) to activate Fellainis release clause.

Because nobody thinks he's worth that amount maybe....
