anyone think we're just one bad tackle for our season bein over as in van persie gettin injured???

i know its one game in but how confident would you feel if it we lost van persie to a bad injury and rooney was to lead the line?

how would u lot feel if van persie got a long term injury?????

Long term I wouldn't be very happy. He would be a big loss.

However, if it was a couple of weeks, I feel Chico could slot in nicely.. He really deserves more play time.. Such an under-utilised talent..
Following his goal on the final day, Javier Hernández has averaged a goal every 118 minutes and 29 seconds on average in the Premier League – a faster rate than any other player (with more than 10 goals) in the history of the competition.

I've posted this statistic before but feel its worth a mention.. Goes to show just how good he really is

Seemingly we have bid 28million for Fellaini and Baines. Unsurprisingly it has been rejected. Well short of the fee that would be required to sign them imo - 35million minimum.

Was just about to post that, seriously what are we playing at! That works out at 14 million each im sure Moyes would have laughed at that offer as Everton manager.

25 for Fabregas and now 28 for Fellaini and Baines? Someone at united needs to reevaluate what other players are worth.

    An embarrassing offer.

And you wonder why we're still trying sign players at this stage..... Ffs bids like these are just stupid and insulting if anything it makes the club look really bad in many ways to.

great win, to get a 4-1 result on opening day is just excellent. in the context of the game, it wasnt a 4-1 win in terms of us dominating possession and territory but my god, were we effective in the final 1/3 of the pitch.cant remember a game where we were as clinical as that for a long long time. 3 of the goals were just insanely good.

RVP is just an animal, 4 goals already. when he is in this form, anything is possible, but one injury to him and we are in trouble, big trouble.

if him, DDG, Vidic and Carrick all can play 30+ games in the league, we will win it, they are vital to us and one injury to them lessens our chances.

the risk is too big though without strengthening and hopefully now that the deadline is closing, theres a 9 day gap and moyes is settling in, we will get a midfielder in before Chelsea.

Don't forget RVP went through a 10 game domestic drought last season, and United still won the games and ultimately the league by a margin.

this drought was grossly over estimated IMO.

are you sure it was 10 games? i thought it was only 4 or 5 league games matches plus the madrid games and a few FA cup games. in that period he got injured against QPR and was taken off quickly against Norwich also and only came off the bench in 2, if not 3 of the Fa Cup games.

he still was involved in a good few goals in that period(it was his shot that was deflected in against Sunderland in the 1-0 win for example) and rafaels goal against QPR came from a rebound off his shot that was saved.

our run of games around that time was against most of the poorer teams in the league and reading, west ham in the fa cup, so they were games we'd expect to be winning and as i said, he still contributed to goals.

    The latest on Ronaldo...

Dan Walker ‏@mrdanwalker 39m #Ronaldo rumours won't go away. Only thing that seems certain is that nothing can happen unless Bale moves 1st #THFC #MUFC

Seems that tweet got a bad reaction.

    Dan Walker ‏@mrdanwalker 17m
Why the insults & rage?:) I'm not stirring, have no agenda & am simply telling u what I heard. Far from done or guaranteed so enjoy ur day🍔

Claims elsewhere were Ronaldo wants to leave and that Madrid would want £70 million cash...would help pay for Bale.

Oh well, time is running out and all this rumour will be ended soon.

We will probably bid £15M for Ronaldo

surely this cant be true? i mean....if it is (and am waiting for the usual posters to dimiss it as lies), then there is a serious problem at the club.

Hopefully this triggers a landslide of bids and we sign them before next week. I don't think we need Baines, but anyway.

What do u mean usual posters to dismiss it as lies? There are only two parties who can confirm if there is any truth in it. Its most likely some journo out to wind up some gullible united fans.

what they are worth to us and to Everton are two different things, id expect them to rate them at closer to £40million. considering that the likes of Young, Milner, Barry etc all went for crazy money, then Fellani would definately be worth around £23million at least.

Everton probably rate Baines at £15-18million

and going off the Fabregas saga, it will take us another week before we go back with a second bid now. we literally have lost the plot this summer when it comes to transfers.

this....and we dont even need him for 2-3 years. the fact that we are even bidding for Baines is laughable at this stage.

what on earth are we playing at? would like to know what the people who have backed our transfer policy all summer got to say about it. after all the shi* thats been written this summer & here we are on 19th of August bidding half assed for players who to be honest, are not going to solve our creativity problem in midfield.,

as to why we dont just go out, put in a proper bid for a player who we need and just be done with it. even one top class midfielder now would do us and we can get on with the football.

    Would echo this.

I know a low opening bid is the norm - but there is low and there is insulting; this feels more the latter, which could make further approaches very tough - especially considering they were already apparently pissed over how Moyes left in the first place.

And yeah - if Evra isn't leaving they why the fook are we looking to spend a decent wedge on Baines? Can't see us keeping both of them happy.

Aug 18/19. Put in a bid for Felliani and Baines please. I think maybe 28 million should do it.

What the **** planet are we on?

It's maybe 8-10million short and why if we were genuinely interested was this not put in earlier in the window?

Despertation would be bidding 100 million for the pair.....

They somehow under ferguson managed to lowball arsenal last season with 24 million for the then league top scorer. No harm starting low.

what on earth are we playing at? would like to know what the people who have backed our transfer policy all summer got to say about it. .

Out of interest, (and this has been pointed out time and time again but you choose to ignore it at a stage where it's nearly trolling), but who has backed our transfer policy?

Many people, including myself, simply weren't willing to cry "disgrace and disaster" a few days into the transfer window, and most of "my brigade" would be getting nervous now, as we always admitted we would as the window wound down. Please stop trying to peddle this myth that people are happy and thrilled with whats happening, just because we won't join you at the other end of the spectrum just yet.

Anyway, does anyone know how long Baines has left on his contract? Would the low bids be because Moyes knows he only has a short time left?
    kippy wrote: »

I'd agree with this. Strikes me Moyes would kind of like Baines but won't break the bank for him. I'd imagine 28m is about 20m for Fel (which isn't far off what he's worth) and 8m for Baines...

well we did bid for Baines, £12million. and we go back with exactly the same bid then, 2 months later. you couldnt make this up.

but ya, i cant see what the point is waiting 2 months to bid for Fellani apart from being cheap skates or, he actually was only a backup option to other players who we couldnt get or were more expensive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,089 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

What I ment by desperation is not the figure but how close to the window closing that we are trying to get these players. Surely if Moyes wanted them badly he would of made this move at the very start of the transfer window

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,630 ✭✭✭Alpha Dog 1

If we brought him in now, have back up to evra and also play league cup games. In 2 years we have the Best left back in England.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,333 ✭✭✭jonnyfingers

Not sure what Woodward is playing at with these bids. I wonder if the figures are ones he's coming up with or someone else at the club? Either way this is the kind of bid you make early in the window just to test the waters, not with a few weeks remaining and the season already started. Yes it's great to get a deal and save a few million on a player, but I think it's more important for United this summer to just get a deal done. If that means playing a fair market value, or slightly over it, to get the deal done quickly and smoothly then so be it.

The club stands to gain nothing from these embarrassing bids and I hope someone on the board has sense and pushes at least one deal through.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 1,713 ✭✭✭Soldie

Really hope that bid is just a rumour. Absolutely load of bollocks if true. Baines is good but we simply don't need him. I'd be happy with Fellaini but only if he was signed in conjunction with someone like Fabregas, Ozil or Modric.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,465 ✭✭✭supersean1999

Id imagine 13 and 20 m would buy them. 33 maybe 35 m. We do need baines and fellaini. If carrick and evra get injured we are struggling to replace them. Now im not suggesting carrick and fellaini wont play together. But at least If carrick is out. Jones can wait out of midfield. With carrick and fellaini in center it would suit welbeck and valencia pushed on the wings. And rooney or kag behind van per.

It's a low ball offer but as I said before, if there's anyone that should know how to play Everton it's Moyes. He should know exactly how they'll view the bids and how desperate they are for money, people forget how much of a poor financial situation they've been in for years.

The thinking is probably opening bid £28m and get them for ~£35m instead of using that as an opening bid, where Everton will be in a better position to think we'll eventually pay £40m.

Maybe they are making a hash of this, but I'd be inclined to wait and see especially given the amount of inside information our manager has on Everton.
