By the way, whoever said yesterday I was probably one of those slating Lucas when he came to the club....you have no idea how clueless you are.

    Haha didn't see this.

There was a small minority on this forum defending Lucas for close to two seasons.

Would actually love to go back to those days and look at who was slating him. Suspect it might make for some interesting reading, especially in the context of some posters present position on our current up for discussion players.

From reading here and twitter it seems Kolo is well on his way to become a cult hero. People just seem to love the guy:D

I really like Sterling?! Big fan of his, think he was poor yesterday when he came on. There is no agenda against him in any way shape or form.

I don't think your agenda is against Sterling

Thought he was awful. Added nothing at all when he came on. I'm worried that his development was stunted last season.

What was it exactly about his performance yesterday that makes you worried his development was stunted. The fact he gave away a free kick? That he misplaced one pass (which was an attacking pass looking to create a clear-cut chance)

For all his supposed flaws hendo actually was only denied by two worldy saves..add that to his general improvement in 2nd half i thought he played very well.. out of position..

Puts his head down and gives everything..it was him up running with danny near the end lookin for the pass on the break..

Hes not brilliant or world class..but is a v good squad member.

If the club moved him on at a cut price, it would be such a bad decision.

On the topic of Coutinho and Inter, sometimes it just doesn't work out for players in a certain league/at a certain club.

Look at Shelvey, I was never blown away by his performances at Liverpool, but in the recent u21 game, and Swansea's game yesterday, 5/6 million looks a bargain.

Hendo was unlucky not to score yesterday. Seems to have a great shot and getting in good position . Could see him bagging a few goals this season

1 good save and one bad shot....he never should have missed the first one.

The fact that he didn't really effect the game in any positive way. He was brought on late on, a player like him with incredible pace should be making a big impact at that point in a match. At the start of last season he did that, yesterday he didn't.

There is no "conclusions" drawn from it, just calling it as it was yesterday and saying that I hope his development hasn't been stunted as we've seen before when a young player is overused (Insua for example).

Seemingly I'm not allowed hold that opinion though or else it's simply part of my agenda against the manager

Actually, didnt Rafa sign Coutinho for Inter and thought that he would be the future of Inter Milan. Thats the point I was making, particularly as Rafa will have seen how good he has been for Liverpool. He wasnt really getting a game at Inter and they were happy to sell for what has been bargain of the century

No. Inter signed Coutinho in 2008 when Jose was their manager, he joined Inter in 2010 when he was 18 (Brazilian rule).

Describing his performance as awful is grossly unfair. He had 20 minutes yesterday. Expecting him to make a big impact every time he comes on (at 18) is ridiculous. It doesn't always fall that way.

You can hold any opinions you want. It's just my view you're now using Sterling as a stick to beat the manager with. Sterling was only overused for a few months last season - he was given much of the rest of the season to recover. He will be fine, as he has shown in pre-season and for England U-21's he is as sharp and intelligent as ever.

Also, Insua doesn't seem to have suffered long-term effects from being overplayed. He suffered short-term form issues and suffered from the fans jumping on his back

Toure busting a gut to get in the box after going the length of the field was the best thing ive seen in anfield in years:D

His career at Liverpool finished as a result of him being overplayed.

Well he was scapegoated by Liverpool fans. One thing that really really annoyed me about fans during that period.

Yeah even that picture of him in the car yesterday.

I commented yesterday on his mentality and professionalism, even coming through in his comments about LFC and how visibly happy he is to be here. Really impressed me yesterday in the match too...eager, but smart. I like him.

Yeah - but that doesn't mean he was awful. He was decent imo. Definitely didn't deserve to be singled out as one of our worst performers.

His career at Liverpool finished as a result of him being overplayed.

His career at Liverpool was finished because Hodgson sold him to bring in Konchesky.

I remember having a debate last season with you last September saying that Sterling was being over-relied on. Of course you disagreed and were saying he should be able to play every week for the season or 30-35 games iirc.

Good job that didn't happen but he was still overplayed. I hope the same doesn't happen to Coutinhio and he's managed better.

As I said yesterday, I think Sterling should be over all that from last season after his rest and the preseason behind him. Personally I just don't think he's good enough for where we want to go atm.

Or even that Sterling is not good enough atm, for where we want to go.
    A subtle but important difference.

Yeah, well you know what I meant.

Basically, to get top 4 we need better quality than him. Good sub to have.

The problem then is, will he get games? If not, surely that's not good for him either.

If we get Willian, I think we're better off sending him out on Loan.

Willian will be nailed on Starter, and Aspas will most probably be the First Name called from the Bench.

Ibe could take his place as the Odd Sub for the Garbage Minutes.

Willian, if signed will clearly mean he will be a sub and cup-games player. Can also play him in the U21 league of course just to keep him ticking over. If the transfer comes to pass I suppose a loan is not beyond question but if Assiadi is sold then cover is needed.

Coutinho really is a sheer touch of footballing class and delicate beauty, almost gliding as he moves with the ball, the shadowdancer, orchestrating passes like Sir Simon Rattle. His thick, strong and volumising hair that sits just above his angel-like face makes the whole thing more heavenly.

I'm truly content with this player.

    Cute-inho :)

I don't know much about Cissokho, but I've seen a few people on here say that he's been pretty poor for Valencia.

Is he better going forward than Enrique? If not, seems like a strange signing since Enrique is very good defensively. Maybe he is being seen purely as backup.

I actually hope we Start with Allen.

Same Line-up but Allen in for Gerrard.

With Villa playing Counter-Attacking Style of Football, we need Allen to help out Lucas in Shielding our Defense.

    I'd be content with a team of Kolo-T's :)
