I'm currently watching Valencia, and I'm surprised that they've gotten Postiga as Soldado's Replacement.

Considering the Fee they got for him from Spurs, you kinda expected someone better.

Their Debt must be really crippling them, since they're practically pushing Cissokho to us.

We had 11 shots on target against Stoke today. We can only better that in 5 of the last 186 games we’ve played in the EPL in the last 5 yrs
    Denied a cricket score by a super-keeper.

Look out Joe Kinnear is on the case, from The Mirror
Joe Kinnear, Newcastle’s Director of Football, has been scouring Europe.

He watched Belgium draw 0-0 with France last Wednesday.

And he has been given the all-clear by owner Mike Ashley to bring in the players needed to make Newcastle a force in the Premier League and prevent a repeat of last season when they came perilously close to relegation.

Willian has made it clear he would like to try his luck in the Premier League where his compatriots Oscar and David Luiz are at Chelsea while Sandro has been a success at Tottenham.

During the summer, the Brazilian invasion has continued, with Fernandinho joining Manchester City while Paulinho has teamed up with Sandro at White Hart Lane.

Liverpool were the early front-runners to land Willian until Newcastle made their move.

He has also been linked with Tottenham and Manchester United, but the Anfield giants believe they can still land their target.

    Wait there's more
Liverpool are preparing to turn their attention to Brazil striker Leandro Damiao, writes Dean Jones of the Sunday People.

There are still fears on Merseyside that a new bid close to £50million could see Arsenal sign Luis Suarez.

And with Tottenham and Manchester United now trying to hijack Liverpool’s move for top target Willian, the Anfield giants want to ensure they are not left short of attacking options.

Brendan Rodgers has large funds available for a marquee signing before the transfer window closes.

The club have already missed out on Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who chose Borussia Dortmund, and Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa – and the Reds are concerned the same thing could yet happen with Anzhi Makhachkala’s exciting attacker Willian, 25.

Liverpool have back-up options in place as potential major signings though.

And Sunday People Sport understands Brazilian forward Damiao, 24, is on that list

    I didn't know Newcastle was such a Powerhouse. :P

    New 50 million bid....paper doesn't refuse ink.

Joe Kinnear scouting Willian at a Belgium vs France match might have a bit of truth to it though.

Do other clubs use Liverpools interests as a type of scout? :P It usually goes something along the lines of...

Monday - Liverpool interested in 'x' player.
Tuesday - Liverpool interested in 'x' player but face competition from 'x' team.
Wednesday - 'x' team interested in 'x' player and negotiations are ongoing.
Thursday - Liverpool are now interested in another player.

The Mirror also reckon that the fee for Willian is £15m. It's strange, because they've been probably the most reliable paper for Liverpool over the summer.

Considering Anzhi's position and what I know of Willian, I'd obviously be much happier with £15m than £35m! Although perversely, I'd say such a low fee would upset those clambering for a marquee signing!

15m is a whole lot more reasonable and a lot more in in line with what I would expect the owners to bankroll.

but 15m would add fuel to the fire for those who think FSG are running LFC like ALDI ;)

Only if they are stupid enough to it equate quality to price...which as we have seen is all too often over the past few years is not the case.

A lot to be said for it, if only because these guys will be busting a gut to make their WC squad. No lack of motivation!

Fcuk it I thought same old story when Agger handled it. Good save, showed he'd done his homework.

Seriously if you can't enjoy a win like that, some great football, loads of "oohs and awhs", for Feck sakes, and Mignolet stopped the inevitable 1-1 draw at home.

Enjoy it and have a good moan at the Villa game!

It's one way to ensure that coutinho doesn't get itchy feet next summer, surround him with a load of brazilians!

lol, I can actually see myself in that clip. I was in the second row down by pitchside, right in line with the 18 yard line, so straight in front of that lad. I can see myself being agitated at the idiots walking in front of me just as the penalty is being taken. Obviously once the kick is taken I'm lost from view, but my shiny head is definitely visible there near the steward by the hoardings.

Still buzzing after that win yesterday. Been awhile since we started a season with an opening win. Probably already been asked today but was 08/09 against Boro are last opening day win, late Gerrard winner:confused:

If we can have anything resembling that year this season we'll do ok:)
