Best DSLR For Video

    Hi,

I'm considering getting a DSLR that I'll be using for photo's but also a lot of video. It will be my first DSLR and my budget is around 750 euro for the camera and one lens to start me off. I will be using it predominantly for outdoor sports and nature shots. I do a lot of whitewater kayaking so I would realy like to utilise it on the river bank.

I have been looking around at a few and the Canon 60D seems to be getting a lot of positive feedback for both its photo's and video.

I am a total noob when it comes to DSLR's but have a couple of years experience using a Sony HVR-Z1U camcorder so I know a few of the ins and outs of shooting. I'd like something that is robust, produces brilliant video and that will last me a good few years. I'd like a good all round lens to start off. Something that would be a jack of all trades if possible.

Anyone have any recommendations? Any help would be appreciated.

What's your budget like? If I were buying a NEW DSLR for video, I'd wait for Canon to bring out the new 70D, it's got all the features founded in the most recent cameras, but in a nicer body with some new technology in the screen.

Around 750 for the camera and one lens as I said in the OP.

If you can stretch by €50, 60D With 18-135mm IS.

Bought from these a few times before. Always been two days to arrive (from Hong Kong) and if you get hit for VAT they'll refund it :)

If you are using it in and around water I would recommend a Pentax k50.

It is water resistant as are the main lenses...

I'd stick with Canon. For Magic Lantern and the very healthy market for accessories and lenses etc.

Whoops, sorry about that! In that case I'd go with the package Telchak suggested, I do love the 60D!

as a Nikon man, I would reccomend Canon over Nikon for video - you can not change apperature in live-view mode in most Nikon's, which is a real no no for me. Apart from that , the Nikon HD video is fine.

Wow! I always thought Digital Rev were a reasonably priced non-EU site but onestop put their prices to shame! I know where I'm buying from Next :)

Panasonic Gh3, Google the reviews. Its probably above your budget so its earlier model the Gh2 might suit.

Just picked up a Gh3 recently and in the early stages of learning it.
