Fully expect no surprises in the lineup today, Toure alongside Agger. Allen, Gerrard, Lucas in front of them and Aspas, Sturridge, Inho up front. Sterling and Henderson to get a run also for Allen and Sturridge later on and Pool winning 2-0.

Who is your prediction for the remaining forward position

Edit: Oops miss read inho thought it said imho.

Speaking of defenders, I reckon that Amorebieta lad for Fulham, will be a treat.

Is that cause his name sounds like a cake?

Its possible to get 4 quality defenders for 36 million but they would not be proven pl performers so there is a risk involved.

We dont need 4 new defenders, we need one top tier one to slot beside agger. Wed have 2 lbs, 3rbs and 5 cbs to chose from then (assuming the cissokho deal goes through) and everyone else stays put. Compare that to arsenal now. A good first team which we have will get you so far, but january onwards if youve a small squad you are goosed.

Sturridge or Aspas on right wing?

Interesting that Aspas played all of the pre season games as a striker.

Unlikely that he'll be pushed onto the wing today.

I'm not sure Sturridge will start. I'd hate him to start and not be match fit and subbed after 60 mins.

I'd much prefer to have him as an option for the last 30 minutes.

a new season, new hope, new dreams, it's funny how deluded i am, every year i concoct in my head a vision that if this or this and this goes right, we could be up there at the top, but this year i am crazy optimistic, top four is in my deluded eyes realistic. a home win today, a good start and who knows................ynwa

It would mean taking more points in one go than we did from our first five matches last year...
Ah but we start this season with a +30 goal difference;)

    Our year:)

Oh lads I can't wait...got the dinner on at half six this morning to get a clear run at the day!

    Bring it on.

I have to admit that I am pretty pumped, more so than last year. The team really have to make a go of it this year. My other team Kaiserslautern is playing today as well and with Clare tomorrow it is pretty much wall-to-wall sport. Excellent

    Cum Grano Salis
    Willian update

    8149569.jpg

With Liverpool failing in their attempts to land Mkhitaryan and Diego Costa there attention has turned to the Brazilian maestro Willian of Anzhi.

The Russian club is having a bit of a fire sale at the moment and this alerted LFC to the possibility of signing attacking midfielder.

What I can reveal is that LFC have been in discussions today with Anzhi with Billy Hogan believed to be taking the lead in the talks

Tottenham are also believed to hold an interest LFC know they had to act fast
I am led to believe that Liverpool have offered 28m plus 5m in add ons ( this would kick in if LFC qualified for Champions league in the next two seasons )

Anzhi have now given Liverpool exclusivity to talk to the player with the club willing to offer him a five year deal worth 100k per week plus bonuses, they hope to have the deal wrapped up by Monday

Brendan Rodgers is also very keen to add a centre back to his ranks with Sakho, Chygrynskiy and Inigo Martinez all an option.

Billy Hogan is Chief Commercial Officer for LFC.

I find the FF stuff boring. Really I don't know much about other teams and their players. I know the names but have been out of touch of non-related Liverpool football teams. I guess having BBC -Liverpool stuff as your bookmark will do that to you over the years :)

Stoke have only lost 2 of the last 10 against us, maybe Hughes will play more open.

Hopefully they will, and give Coutinho some room in behind to play Sturridge through
