CN22 & International Registered An Post

So, yesterday, around a quarter to five, I go to one of the smaller post offices in Galway & send a large envelope to the USA using International Registered, the nice lady asks me for a value (it was over the max of 35, but less than 50) & what it is (it's a book). She didn't ask me to fill in & sign a CN22 (which, yes, they asked me to do in the main post office for a similar envelope to Austria, this wasn't registered though)... I thought it odd that I didn't have to fill in the little green slip, but didn't have the smarts to ask her.

So, does registered make it so I don't have to declare & sign a CN22 slip? or have I just been shafted by an An Post staff member? & if so, what happens now? Parcel doesn't even go on a jet? (it's left the main sorting office in Dublin) Parcel is stopped by Homeland? Searched? Delayed for long? Don't tell me that they'll call around to my house & do a cavity search on me, please, don't tell me that. Please.

    Bend over General General.

Chances are it went as a large envelope as opposed to a package, you dont need a c22 for a large envelope.

Its a thin line as to when a large envelope becomes a package.

Ah. It definitely was a large envelope. Price was for it (7.90). Measurements were well within those for large envelope, weight took it over letter (book was less than size of a dvd).

Thanks a lot for that info. Hang on, there's a knock at the door, I'll just go & answer...
