Garage Conversion - Minimum Internal Height

Just have a really quick question in relation to garage conversions.

We're in the process of buying a house (waiting on contracts) which has a garage to the side. The front of the garage is in line with the front of the house. There's a slight pitch on the roof (maybe an increase of 1ft when it's 8ft wide or so).

I think I should be ok to do the conversion without planning but I'm not sure about the internal height.

Is there a minimum internal height that a room must be to comply with building regulations?

Yes, that's the recommended min. height.

Its a 'suggested' height in order to comply with ventilation regulations.

If you are happy you can meet proper ventilation and still be below that height, so be it. Compliance with regulation is more often than not a matter of opinion.

If you want, you can apply for a dispensation from regulations.

Grand, thanks. Just want to get ideas in my head.

I guess the first port of call is insulating the garage. No idea when it was built, hopefully the contacts will have that info but I can't see it being younger than 20 years....
