Audi A6 maintenance costs

    Hi All,
I am seriously looking at getting an Audi A6 2.0, either 2009 or 2010. Either will have a full service record and I trust they will be in good condition, coming in from the UK.
So, having looked at a lot of the A6 posts, I don't see enough to be able to answer my questions.
Basically,(i) as someone who would drive the car very lovingly (ii) put up just about 10k miles per year (iii) and the car would indeed be in good condition, I would like to get an idea of what the maintenance costs might be per year going forward. I would not know a huge amount about cars to be honest. I suppose if someone was to frighten me, I would change my mind away from this model!
I would hope to keep the car for many years - moving from a Corrolla to treat myself to some extra luxury!!
I would really appreciate it if someone could spare a few minutes to enlighten me:).

Sorry to take so long to reply, went clean out of my head. I have an A6 2.0 TDi from new, 2009. The servicing is reasonable IMO, at about €195 which includes taxi or loan car, wash and hoover, software updates on top of the usual checks. It is on long life oil at Audi recommended 30,000KM service intervals, even though there are those on here will tell you Audi Engineers are wrong:rolleyes:. Only had one issue - A leak in the EGR Valve, which was coming in at €495. 3 months after the 2 year warranty was up. Following my less than complimentary response, Audi Cork provided the labour, Audi stumped up most of the cost of the EGR and I paid €90. Other than that, nothing major. 130K on the clock now so I'll check and see when the timing belt needs doing.
Beautiful car, SE spec in white, brilliant motorway cruiser, cheap on tax, great on diesel averaging 49mpg since the day I bought her. Huge boot, masses of leg room for everyone. Terrible attempt at dual zone Climate by Audi, but other than that, you won't be sorry.

I got mine just after whiterebel but sold it in Feb this year :( sadly missed. Similar prices to WRs, no major issues after 130000k. The timing belt on mine was not due till 188000k or so and that was confirmed via email with Audi UK and Audi Ireland. Lovely car and would happily have it back and just install a Bluetooth kit and give my new Santa Fe back in exchange (nothing wrong with the SF just much prefer the A6).

I really appreciate your input, Whiterebel and Bazza. Ye have given me great confidence to go ahead with my purchase! That is what I wanted to hear.
I read the posts about the service intervals i.e 30k per Audi engineers etc. If I do 10k p.a. I am sure then it would be enough to get a service done after two years!!! ???
    Cheers..

They do say 30K or 1 year. If it were me, I wouldn't leave it any longer anyway.

No, when doing such low mileage then you need servicing done using a time interval rather than mileage. When doing such little mileage you should still have it serviced at least once a year.

I wouldn't be so smug. BMW were doing the same for a long time 25,000KM per oil change and people were saying max of 15,000 for oil change, turns out BMW engineers were wrong and the lay people were right as BMW then dropped the oil change intervals down earlier this year due to a high number of failures.

But you see I wouldn't trust BMW if they told me today was Friday......:P

Not after they stiffed all those customers after the timing chain and turbo failures, both known problems to BMW but they were happy to let their customers swallow the pain.

I assume its a petrol you are looking at as 10k a year isnt diesel friendly mileage.

That not exactly true. 10k of stop start town driving isn't diesel friendly but I can't see any negative effects of doing 10k on say a motorway.
