For some odd reason I sometimes foresee events in my dreams. It's hard for me to distinguish exactly when, where or who the events will happen to but these dreams are becoming more common for me. A couple of weeks ago I had a dream of a tanned man hanging himself pleading me for help, two days later I was informed that an acquaintance's (who is French which explains the tan) father had hung himself.

Most recently I had a dream of a aircraft and high speed vehicles crashing and the next day the train and plane in England crashed.

Does this occur to anyone else?
Just coincidence. Dreams are incredibly ambiguous and your brain tends to play tricks on you, especially if you think you're capable of foreseeing things.
Though send me next weeks lotto numbers just in case

Discovered this thread two days ago - sheer genius. Many memories have been invoked and here are a couple of my own 'close encounters'.....

When I was quite young (maybe 4/5), I recall sitting outside my parents house waiting to go swimming. We have these two concrete pillars on either side of the main gate so I was sitting on one of these. As I sat there, a man approached me and asked me if he could take my picture as he 'thought I was the prettiest little girl he had ever seen'. He told me he was with a newspaper and that my picture would be in it...I remember thinking that this was the best thing ever and he took my picture.....I told him I would run in and get my Mam to tell her but he told me not to and walked off........again, its only years later that you think about the 'what ifs'....my picture never did appear in any paper.............

Another very freak and unnerving incident happened about 10 years ago. I was on my first trip to amsterdam with two of my friends. They had lived here in the summer previously in a place called Leiden and they were eager to go back and spend a day here to reminisce. (They had spent the summer taking copious amounts of drugs with other backpackers.....) Anyways, we head to Leiden on a very wet, windy day and it was late evening when we arrived. It was like something out of the movie Hostel, I swear to god. There was nobody on the streets, shops were closed. Freaky. We ended up walking around and finding a pub/hotel. So we go in and its like a brightly lit sitting room. In the corner sat about 8 people who, on our entrance, all stopped what they were doing and turned and stared at us. It freaked the sh1t out of me. but all of a sudden, one the people called out my friends name. it turned out that the group of people in the pub had spent the last summer with my two friends! I sighed with relief...but maybe prematurely.

This group of people never left Leiden. While my two friends had left and come home to Ireland, this group had stayed and continued to take copious amounts of drugs and never stepped foot out of the town.....bring on the paranoia. It only took a couple of minutes to realised that the 8 people were not in their right minds. Out of nowhere, one the girls jumped up and started shouting 'who took my wallet? One of you fu*****s took my wallet' - looking straight at me. Another girl jumped up and locked the door to the pub....Jesus H Christ. I sh1t myself. I kid you not. They wouldnt let us leave for about 2 hours and they searched our backpacks, jackets etc while my two friends tried to reason with them...they finaly let us out. But I will never forget the sheer terror of thinking 'this is it, this is where I die....'......

The mention of Amsterdam reminded me of this one..... It was widely reported around my town a couple of years ago but I'm convinced ints an urban legend, be interesting to see if anyone else has heard it!!

So these 2 girls go to Amsterdam for a weekend, one of the girls ends up hooking up with this guy, heads back to his place and does the deed. Meets up with him for the next couple of nights and comes back home to Ireland.
Within a couple of weeks of coming home she begins to get this rash. She visits her doctor who runs some tests. He calls her back and asks her who she has been in close contact with. She tells him about the guy and he contacts the authorities in Amsterdam immediately.
The authorities break into the guys house and find 2 dead bodies, the guy is a necrophiliac and her rash is something that is picked up from dead bodies!!

There was alot more detail to it when it went round a few years ago

Had a really bad dream one night about somebody grabbing me from behind on the stairs of the house I was living in at the time. It felt so real I could even feel the hairs in his arms on my skin.

Woke up majorly freaked out. Looked at my phone to see what time it was and got out of bed to ask my housemate if I could stay in their room cos I didn't think I'd be able to sleep.

Just as I got out of be my phone rang with a private number. I answered it and a man said "do you like scary movies?" I swear to god it was one of the freakiest moments of my life. I hung up straight away and the phone rang again. I turned it off and ran to my housemate's room.

My housemate thought I'd dreamt it but checked the call reg and the calls were in the call reg.

Didn't sleep a wink that night and was too afraid to walk to work in the morning. Turned my phone off at night for months after that night.

That was bout 6 years ago. Never found out who it was. Still freaks me out to this day when I think of it.

Years ago, was driving to Clare late at night to check on my uncles farm after he died. Over a mile from the next house. Was listening to a Radio 1 ghost story at 11am(Book of the day) and it was a rainy/lightening night in October. Opened the gate and drove down the lane. Out of my peripheral vision I saw a white face looking at me out of the tree. Had to stop the car to check on it. As it happens it was my uncles donkey with the white part of his face sticking between two trees. Switched on Rte 1 when I got down and what was on only 'The Ring'. There were old bottle fuses in the house and they blew halfway through the movie great. Watching the telly while changing the fuse hoping I wouldn't see the black and white dots. Longest night ever

This happened in the Dublin mountains in the late 90's.....

Not as chilling as the rest but......

Myself and the ex were driving pretty late at night back towards Dublin. We were on an open stretch of the road in a very desolate part of the mountains....not even distant house lights. Miles from anywhere. In the distance I could make out the reflection of the car lights on the eyes of an animal. As we got close, it was a really huge big black dog sitting on its hind legs just staring at us, stock still. It was on my boyfriends side of the road, on that kind of raised mound you get at side of country roads. As we passed, I noticed that the dog never moved, nor the reflection on his eyes didn't budge as you would expect with animals. My boyfriend was in the middle of a long tale so I didn't ask him about it until we passed. I asked was there many wild dogs in Ireland. He laughed out loud at my question and asked why. I repked as to where the big black dog came from. He asked "what dog?"....he honestly saw nothing...... we had been on a straight stretch for nearly a min before with the dog shining at us all the way passing within feet of his side. Maybe it was an omen for the relationship, lol

    It was the Grim!

Very irresponsible of you to watch/listen to ghost stories when you know you're going to be alone for the night in a strange place!

    You should know better thomur!

Woke up very early one morning and was greeted by a terrifying figure with the face of a skull. Frightened the **** out of me. The apparition was in fact my three year old son who got up early and decided to put on his halloween mask just for the hell of it. He was looking for his breakfast.

A spooky one just this morning.

I have a friend and her little boy staying this weekend with me. I was up early with the little one and asked what he wanted for breakfast. He said Weetabix with warm milk and sugar. I prepared the Weetabix and milk and was looking for the sugar. I don't normally have sugar in the house but had bought a small pack specifically.

Anyway, my kitchen is very small (live in a duplex) and as it is only me in it, there is not a lot of food. I looked in the cupboards and could not find the sugar. It simply wasn't there as there is not much food and a pack of it would be hard to miss. The little boy helped me look. He said he couldn't eat the Weetabix without sugar so I put toast on.

I put the toast on, watched a bit of tv and when I turned back around to butter the toast, I saw right next to the Weetabix box was the pack of sugar. I almost jumped out of my skin. There is no way I could have missed it. I called the child over and asked was that there before, he looked scared and said no.

Feel a bit odd about it.

The riddle of the 'angel priest': Holy man appeared from nowhere to pray with trapped girl and rescuers in traffic accident, told them she would be OK and then vanished

My central heating turned on by itself last night. The knob that you turn to switch it on was in the off position, but the electronic display was showing that the radiators were on. Have no idea what happened, only that it could have been an electrical fault, we were in the middle of a thunder storm. That's the only rational explanation I have!

So me and my co-worker recently were driving to a job site.

It was a good distance away so we took the Motorway.

It was pissin down rain and large clouds covered the sky.

Well, we saw a hitchhiker and decided to be nice guys and pick him up.

So, we pulled over and told the guy to hop in.

He approached the vehicle and we realized he has a big camouflage duffel bag that was completely full.

It looked like it was barely closed!

As he got in, my co-worker says "what’s in the bag?" with which the hitchhiker replied "that’s none of your fookin business".

We laughed it off, thinking he would tell us later... But 20 minutes go by and he still didn't tell us.

So finally I say "Look Dude, tell us what’s in the bag or we are going to drop you off!".

Again he replies "Well.....That's none of your fookin business".

So we pull over and drop his weird ass off at a Shell.

About 3 miles down the road we realize the crazy mudder fupper left the duffel bag in the car!

Fookin weirdest experience of my life…………………….never picking up another hitcher!
