I remember recently a guy was on the radio saying how he saw one of the statues moving. Grand if that is what he saw. The problem was he also said there was a video camera footage showing the statue not moving at the same time.

His belief was he saw it move but it didn't actually move!!:eek:

There is lots of explanations to why that would be and none require magical belief.

Just watched a clip on Reeling in the Years about the Moving Statues in the 80"s.
Anyone old enough to remember the mass hysteria that swept across Ireland at the time?
Did you or your family go to see them?
Perhaps you witnessed a concrete Mary breakdancing on her plinth.

Twas all the go for a while.

I remember it alright. I'm from Cork City so I was only about 10 miles from where it was happening. My parents never took us there. Never seemed interested. I do know my mother in law came all the way up from Kerry to see them but never saw anything move.

Actually I was in that area only two weeks ago and passed those statues. They were serving in the local shop trying to make a living for themselves.

No, it seems everybody has forgotten about them and its just an ordinary shrine which everybody passes by in a little Irish village. Its like it never happened.

I remember it well. Never went there and I was disheartened at the amount of people it attracted, I knew then we were not in a cultural revolution after all.

Body-popping statues were all the craze back then.

Imagine the Godblessusandsavus Virgin Mary doin this!

    Vishnu would manage those moves.
