Much will change in the next 2 weeks but atm this is the squad I’m planning. Feel free to comment/advise. Thanks!

    Cech [Chelsea] 6.5

    Mertesacker [Arsenal] 5.5
    Toure [Liverpool] 5.0
    Coleman [Everton] 5.0

    Hazard [Chelsea] 9.5
    Walcott [Arsenal] 9.5
    Mirallas [Everton] 7.5
    Gerrard [Liverpool] 9.0

    Bony [Swansea] 8.0
    Lukaku [Chelsea] 8.0
    Berbatov [Fulham] 7.5

    SUBS:
    Mannone [Sunderland] 4.5
    Clyne [Southampton] 4.5
    Chester [Hull City] 4.0
    Koren [Hull City] 5.0

Still divided between Coleman/Nolan and following the status of: Nastasic, Kagawa, Nani, Soldado, Dzeko…

To be perfectly honest not a lot. Vorm is a decent keeper but @5 is an inbetween and Swansea have horrendous fixtures.

I couldn't advice anyone to touch a Spurs defender until they can prove they'll shore up. Get rid of Walker. Toure @5 is much cheaper than Agger, you could also have Mig in goal if you want Liverpool coverage. Coleman and Clyne are grand but I'd really suggest you bring in a cheap 4/4.5 defender for Walker and cash in on Agger or go for City/Arsenal coverage.

Both Coutinho AND Gerrard? Liverpool fan? Remember it's always the season after that'll be your year. (I have Couts and Mig) no need for 2 9.0 priced Liverpool mids. Do Walcott/Hazard/Silva not seem like better prospects?

I don't fancy Paulinho personally but who's to say he couldn't be solid. Hernandez AND Nolan on the bench? I'm all for a good bench but hell you're wasting money on your starting team. Downgrade one to a 4.5/5 and upgrade somebody. If you don't want any of the big hitters I mentioned above look at Mirallas or Kagawa.

The front 3 are a pretty unknown quantity. Bony could be immense but look at his fixtures. Bentekerrs has an awful start even with the DGW but can see the merit there and I like the Wolf but there's no clear cut fire-power although I have no idea who my forwards will be yet so need need to worry there.

Sorry if I'm brutal and hell I'm not an expert but I think some of those recommendations may help :)

Thanks alot Mate. Some excellent suggestions in there. Yes I am a Liverpool Fan. :p I like some of your comments though and Im going to act on them.

Interesting Comments about the Bench too.

    Back to the Drawing Board.:D

    Mignolet

    Ivanovic(v) Mertesacker Coleman

    Couthinio Nolan Miralles Hazard(c)

    Sturridge Dzeko Lukaku

    Marshall Schneiderlin Williams McNaughton
This is my current selection, and have £1m to spare, probably use my wildcard after game week 3. Had Santi Cazorla, but not sure if he'd start the first game. Same goes for Kagawa.

Would definitely have picked Bony, but Swansea have a tough start.

    Would appreciate any feedback

Not sure if Toure is a guaranteed starter, Lukaku is a punt, but I'm taking a chance on him as well as long as Chelsea don't sign Rooney before the start of the season. Also not sure about Berbatov this season.

I might downgrade Snoddy to get better defenders.

GW 1 Cech -> Hart or Benteke-> Soldado.

    Anyone?

    Anyone?

That's very similar to what I have at the moment myself. Absolutely drop Snodgrass to a 4.5/5 mid as Those 4 are my preferred midfield 4 as it stands. I would of course insist on upgrading one of your sub defenders to Mickey T just to be wary over Toure.

The forwards as we've all been saying are an issue but look of for now as long as you have a plan for GW3 as you start with 4 DGWers. I'm liking Dzeko myself but with him I'd want to be sure of my other 2 front men playing and doing well. I think I'll end up with RVP and Soldado will indeed be interesting depending on price.

Bale?! you have a lot more than 1.0 in the bank :pac:

You can use it to upgrade Dikgacoi, Mirallas would be your friend. I approve of your Mickey Turner policy though :D

Not bad. Personally, I'd have Walcott over Santi. Baker probably won't play (you should always try to have subs who will play) and I'm not a fan of Anelka, I think Rodriguez might be a better bet.

Had my first look this morning and tried picking a team with RVP. He's to the detriment to the rest of the team though so will have to go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,256 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

Without RVP. The strikers are risky but the goalkeeper, defenders and midfielders are arguably the players I'd pick not even taking budget into consideration.

The only change I'm debating is Coutinho for Michu. Michu has been going well in pre season AFAIK.

If I made that change, Bony would have to go.

The one thing I'm waiting on is how much Soldado will be when he moves to Spurs.

So if I free up a bit elsewhere (Cech to Mignolet, Pieters to a cheaper defender), I could go Bony to Soldado and Coutinho to Michu.

Cech in goal for the DGW. After that, he'll go to either Hart or De Gea. Personally I think United will be strong at the back this year, and De Gea is only getting better and better. For the sake of .5m he could be a very good shout, especially after United's opening fixtures.

Coleman, who should go forward all day long under Martinez, Toure who'll be a the heart of the Liverpool defence I think and Mertesacker, despite being a lumbering giant, had a good season last year. If Toure doesn't hold down a place, he can be upgraded to someone like Nastasic by sacrificing .5m from the bench.

Coutinho, Mirallas, Kagawa, Hazard and Walcott will all score goals. The only uncertainty here is Kagawa, whether or not he'll actually starts and plays 90mins remains to be seen.

Dzeko and Lukaku up front, now that Pelligrini has said Dzeko will be his main striker and Lukaku gives me the DGW and an instant swap to Wolfie/Bony/Hoop/Berba/Bent if he fails to impress (although I reckon he's #1 for Chelsea up front this season)

Benched I have Boruc, who'll be #1 at Southampton so I have an instant back-up should Cech get injured or shot or something. Anelka, proven goalscorer - again, perfect backup in case something goes askew with my first two and then Bassong and Turner offer reasonable cover at the back if needed, although I doubt I'll ever need to use Turner.

All in all, I think this is a very good team through and through.

Good team but I think michu is a must , I'd have him in there instead of coutino

I reckon I will start with Coutinho instead of Michu.
Michu is a bit of a gamble for me. The arrival of Bony and the poor opening fixtures are enough to put me off him.

I am not getting the love for Dzeko this year. Way too much of a rotation risk.

I believe the manager pretty much came out said Dzeko is my main man

Baker likely won't be a starter plus Ferandinho is a DM if i am correct?

At 7.5 Dzeko is a bargain given the managers comments, likely he will be up top on his own or in a 2.
Leave him out by all means but you will regret it

    I'd have 14 more Paul McShane's if I could! :)

Okay, been tinkering around and come up with this. Any glaring omissions or areas for improvement? Still have 0.5 in the bank

What I will say is it's refreshing to see Stoke appear in defence in one form or another. Just because Pulis is gone and they're slightly more expensive doesn't mean they won't keep clean sheets up until xmas anyway. I'm considering trying to work somebody in from Stoke and WBA but money talks.
