    Some clues:

    5. Actor in background will point you in the right direction.
    8. If you can recognise the actor in the foreground (with back to camera) this one is easy! I think someone posted a shot from this film a while back.

    9 is a fully animated film, so not Mary Poppins. And yes, that is Buster Keaton.

    No, it's not The General. It's actually a short (from 1922) , so probably makes it too obscure.
