    #1 80s film adapted from an award winning novel. The young guy on the right should be recognizable; he was one of the biggest child stars of 80s cinema.

    Explorers was my first thought as well. After Zeek12's clue I thought it was Stand By Me, but the clothes aren't right. Therefore, it's The Mosquito Coast. No idea about what links them though.

    That's correct, well done. It is The Mosquito coast.

    The link is a bit tricky! But it involves actors appearing in these 6 movies who have something in common, although none of these actors were actually in the shots I posted!

    3. Cate Blanchett (I'm not there) - Elizabeth, Elizabeth: The Golden Age
    4. Colin Firth (A Single Man) - The King's Speech
