I wouldn't bite my tongue. I would let him know exactly what I think so he doesn't make the same mistake again.

Some people are bullheaded though and will only learn by making the mistake or not at all.

Well, I told him. I said it was stupid, he should have gotten 780 instead and maybe extra SSDs etc. He just went and ordered Titan. To make it worse he took finance on damn thing. He wanted fastest card and that was the end for it. Its for a single 22inch Monitor too lol.

I know I did something similar with 680 back then, but it still was only 500eu and I planed on 3 monitor setup. After trying surround gaming I ended up playing on one monitor and having 2 monitors as extras for Movies and other bits.

He could have got 2 x 760gtx which outperform a single titan by about 10 - 20% and costs only €460.

Is it too late to cancel it?

He is built pc and cant install OS from disc. I told him to get USB stick, but he did not had one. So he is waiting for his brother to come after work with one. Argos is about 5 mins away by foot from him... just saying...

Why you'd buy any less in this day and age is beyond me anyway.

Thinking of retiring my trusty MX518.
She has been chugging along without a hitch for about 6 years now.

    Suggestions?

Deathadder. The best Mouse I ever had and I had more expensive stuff. My next mouse will be Deathadder again. After that Deathadder too.

If you want more of the same then a g400

If you want a different mouse then:
Deathadder i have a LH and RH version and both are great
Zowie EC1 or EC2 are fantastic mice too

I bought a Sharkoon Fireglider Laser Mouse on Amazon with free delivery. I used to own a Logitech g500 Laser mouse which cost me 70 quid and the Sharkoon is just as good, if slightly lighter. On the g500 the tilt mechanism on the scroll wheel never worked properly, and thankfully the Sharkoon doesn't have this feature. There are, I believe, more resolution setting on the Sharkoon also. Great ergonomics make this mouse very comfortable to use. There is a slightly more expensive version here. I've seen this mouse recommended on the Building and Upgrading forum, but I've never used this mouse.

Deathadder as well, great mouse & kudos to Razer for the only decent left-handed gaming mouse.

Big death adder fan. Treated myself to a second left hand edition one which I will keep in its box along with a sphex matt for when my main ones wears out from too much use (hopefully a long time in the future)

must say im tempted by this. Just after getting notice of a tax rebate - the temptation to splurge on this, a few fans, a bigger ssd (ordered a 120gb one two days ago, why couldnt i have waited!) Is huge!

There's a windowed version for €5 more and you can mount a 240 rad in the front. Serious case for the money.

What are you using at the moment?

I welcome a good case for budget builds at last. There was literally 0 good budget matx cases that I know of until this.

They will probably creep the price up on it when it starts selling like hot cakes.

You could even mount it horizontally to fit into a lot of tv cabinets for htpc / tv gaming builds.

    Fractal design core 1000

The fractal is looking very poor in comparison now. You might as well treat yourself. It's only €33 and comes with 2 fans. :)

Ah nearly twenty quid shipping on top of it though! Its on amazon as well, should be a bit cheaper delivered. Hmm, dilemma (after only spending an ages last weekend trying to tidy up the inside of the case!

    I want my elephant 780!

living in england has made me sooo impatient with deliveries :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

I'd seen a review of that a while ago. Didn't do much for me to be honest. At the time though, I didn't know it was dirt cheap. Fantastic case! :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,514 ✭✭✭Lu Tze

Yeah after the initial excitement of a cheap matx case with some cable management and space for additional fans i think ill stick with what i have. I did lob the top off the heatsink with a hacksaw to get it to fit my current case so i think ill stick with it! Not as much cables to hide any more either, as ive gone from two ssds, a hdd and a dvd drive to just one ssd at the moment, and likely adding only one more ssd.

I do have a spare fan though that i was considering mounting on the outside of the side panel? there is no space inside anymore. Any major disadvantages other than the potential To lose a finger?

Hi Lads, any thoughts on the best mousemats out there atm?
I'm currently using the razer sphex http://goo.gl/Sa0hrk, but I'd like to try something else.
My son has the razer vespulahttp://goo.gl/vI2mDj

Just wondering what your learned opinions are gents :)

Anything from Steelseries is usually good. I'm using a QCK+ at the moment. I remember Bloodbath recommending a similar one, but it had sewn edges to prevent fraying. Can't remember the name I'm afraid.

I've been using a Razer Mantis for years now.
Doubles up as a nice pillow at LANs.
