Theyll hire yee lads, used to work there. they hire EVERYBODY. You might be let go after a week or two though or just not be able to stick it. Honestly ive seen lads get hired coming to interviews wearing tracksuits

If you want to earn money, are happy to work on shift, make some good friends and gain some customer service training and experience then there is no harm in giving it a go and seeing how it works out for you. You never know you might actually enjoy it... I know I was surprised when I did.

I worked there for 2 years for ESB. They are good with pay and stuff but getting holidays or a day off is a pain sometimes. Overall, they are good to work for.

Irish Water more than likely, the press release a few months ago mentioned 400 jobs with recruitment starting in July

Plus they've the SUSI contract, so from September the clusterf*ck from last year will commence again with new applicants.

To be honest I don't know, I just saw a position available and said I'd go for it, but it sounds like a place that hires often judging from previous posts

As they have different departments and different sections I'm asking for additional info on positions.. And I (like many I imagine) have lots of family and friends unemployed so I try too gather as much info as I can too pass along too them in the hope they do get a job as luckily I'm in full time employment. I apologise for asking questions on a forum. Ill know better in future.

I don't know about Sky / Irish water, but I have worked with Abtran for two years until quite recently. It is minimal money for a load of work and responsibility.

I had been through the whole process of one particular account in Government Services. They do not treat their staff well at all and ninty percent of people want to leave and are looking for that next position. Some people want to stick it out to make changes for the better. I was one of those people for a while. But then I saw sense and left.

If you like timed toilet breaks, managers watching your every move and extreme favouritism towards others on the team, then you'll love abtran!

Promotions in the company appear to be based on your ability to be a loud, obnoxious person rather than on merit. Abtran should come with a warning. It will affect your mental health and the health of your bladder.

currently working here, if you are looking for something to tide you over financially for a few months i'd say go for it. at the end of the day its a job, however it is not a career. The ones who do try to make a career out of it are people who probably would not do well anywhere else. all the tl's are hired from within the company and because people with ambition want to get out of here the selected tl is usually incompetent, from what i observed working there it's a continuous cycle, like a revolving door, people come in and leave within the year and the ones that stay end up being tls but have little people skills whatsoever. management haven't a clue and will try walk over you if you let them. if you go over your breaks by a few mins they will follow up with you on it. Sick days are unpaid and lead to disciplinary action if you have a certain amount and it's nigh on impossible to use your holiday hours to get the time off you want. Working in there is kind of like a primary school environment as in you are treated like a child

Hi ya,

My girlfriend has worked in both company's. with abtran she has worked in different departments. She said Abtran is a better run company(more professional and better managed) but if you are working in abtran , each contract(client-LPT/RSA/IRISH WATER/EFLOW/AVIVA/SUSI) is run by different management so for example Aviva would be a big client professionally run where the LPT is new and isn't up to the same standard(possibly). so i'd say depends what account you work for (the role you have etc) and the type of management operating the departmenet. she said first source isnt run great and there is alot of room for improvement. she told me that there is great more for development in abtran etc (move up the ladder) etc where in firstsource its limited.

Sounds like Merchants.

Its a job, just check your brain at the door and you'll be fine. That said you only ever get hassle in these type of places by thinking you are too good for the job. Do the hours, and get the wage. Simples.

Huge turnover as most folk view it as a stopover, not a career.
