I don't remember ever ordering chicken in a restaurant except for maybe when I was a kid. It just seems like such a waste, do you ever order chicken in a restaurant?

    Never chicken breast.

But chicken leg or wings? Certainly. I don't consider that a waste, they are delicious if cooked nicely. I like chicken, much more than many cuts of, say, pork.

EDIT: actually breast can be best in some saucy meals.

But yeah, I like the much maligned chuck.

I never understood going out for Italian. Pizza and pasta are my poor foods

I just don't like pizza and pasta full stop. Especially pasta - don't understand it at all. Pizza is OK, but I'd never get excited about it.

I studied menu planning/food costing in college.
Restaurants generally make more of a profit out of chicken dishes than steak/beef due to chicken being a cheaper meat. This is why restaurants have to make the chicken sound more appetizing/applying to the customer and they'll train there staff to up sell the chicken dish on the menu. In generally women tend to order chicken more than heaver/fattier meats.
I myself normally order steak over chicken and sauce always goes on the side. Chicken is only ever ordered if it really appetizing or i'm in Nandos!

When i go out i always go for a weird fish option i wouldnt have at home. I have a stupid personal rule to never eat the same thing twice

This led to me panicing when the waitress came around last time and me ordering prawns for a starter and main course.....

But surely it's just a matter of taste is it not?

I've always ordered my steak well done and I'd know the difference between a tender steak and a tough steak.

As regards the whole "I won't eat something out that I can cook at home", I'm eating out because I don't want to cook at home! :pac:

Yknow what just occurs to me now I think of it- does anyone eat cow heart or chicken arse any more? :D

Cows tongue - if you've never tried it, absolutely delicious! Must go down and have a chat with the butcher tomorrow while I remember these things! :D

A bit of cows arse is lovely.
