I've seen this before - the car needs to be scanned with a Ford-specific scan tool, especially if the engine management light is not on. Ford in their wisdom have configured their cars to do this when certain faults occur instead of putting the EML on and making the codes visible.

The likelihood is that it is a fault around the drive cycles and system monitors on the MAF or a fault with an injector. Check the MAF is not covered in oil or other contamination. Failing that, it will need scanning.

    Just an update on this.
Brought car to main stealer. Diagnostics said glow plug open circuit. Egr valve not fully open. cam shaft sensor faulty.
    Also throttle sensor .
Main dealer recommended changing glow plugs and egr and other faults would clear.
Wanted 750euro minimum . Could cost 1500 euro if trouble getting out glow plugs .
Brought it to my indie mechanic .
Changed glow plugs all 4 faulty and all faults cleared and car driving beautifully .
    Cost 220 euro total

Are you servicing it to schedule using the correct oil?
