    Hi,

Put a load into the washing machine and the cycle became extremely loud during the spin so I stopped the cycle and when i opened the drum smoke came out.

Need to call in a repair man as I don't want to have to shell out for a new machine if possible. Or would anyone know what the problem is?

sounds like the bearings are gone on the drum but with smoke is unsual . if it is the bearings it can be fixed but could b kinda expensive and a lot of times when the bearings are fixed ppl dont get so long out of the machine after. 0818313047 that is the number for indesit who make suplly and service hotpoint if the machines more than 7 years old i wouldnt bother getting it repaired

Agree with jasons29 about the bearings. Not worth fixing in my opinion. what I think is happening as happened to one of my customers is- The bearings are gone, hence making the drum basically go all over the place rubbing off the door seal causing friction and subsequently smoke from the burning rubber. I would try donedeal for a reconditioned one maybe. think there is company called pre loved appliances on it-apparanty they are very good. good luck.
