Quick question about paypal fees

    When receiving money, eg, 10 euro, I receive only 9.20, then sometimes I receive the full 10.

    Why are some transactions charged fees and others are not?

    Money can be sent as gift to family and friends and there are no fees , however you have no protection

    Or the person sending the payment refuses to pay the fee and you get landed with it. Depends where the payment comes from. If the sender doesn't have funds in their paypal account and uses credit/debit card through paypal to make the payment, paypal charges a fee. What happens is they are asked if they would like to pay the fee (Duh, like anyone wants to) technically they should pay it, but a lot say no and then the receiver of the payment gets landed with the fee. Hence the shortage in your payment.
    I normally refund the payment and tell them I don't pay their fees.
