I'm well aware of the "issues" football has in this area but far as I'm aware Drogba nor Chelsea have ever been sanctioned with drugs.

This might be a bit o/t but...

What is the drug testing regime in football like? I think in the NBA there is basically no drug testing for the entire playoffs which obviously leaves the system wide open for abuse.

I think that whatever problems cycling has at least this debate is going on now (and with the last 20 odd years :( )

Saying Drogba nor Chelsea have never been sanctioned with drugs sounds to my ears a bit like LA never having been tested positive in 10 billion tests.

Very limited testing in competition and no real out of competition testing (some testing at organised training sessions at clubs but no whereabouts)

In truth there is next to no testing in football. They only do urine testing which modern techniques don't show up anything. It's only next season they have committed to doing blood testing on champions league and europa league games. Better late than never!

That said we can't just assume that every footballer is on something using the LA defense.

I didn't mean to imply that, rather that the statement "We have never been tested positive" is probably meaningless as they have basically, never been tested by reliable means!

OK no more Froome or Sky talk unless Kimmage mentions either in his diary. Any further suggestions of doping by specific riders/teams within this forum can expect appropriate sanctions (and to be clear if I had not been largely AFK for the past few days some "contributions" to this thread would already have been sanctioned

Also no more general doping talk in this thread (again unless it comes up in the diary, but again subject to forum rules on doping speculation)

Oh ok. Are you saying that Didier Drogba was doped while playing for Chelsea? He asked for a precedent, I gave him one. I'm well aware of the "issues" football has in this area but far as I'm aware Drogba nor Chelsea have ever been sanctioned with drugs.

No I'm saying that there could have been a better example picked, it's like saying hey look Nico Roche has come on leaps and bounds at Saxo Bank, the team has some ethical questions that can be raised about it which will be offset against the progress of the Rider or Soccer player in this case.

    Eh, Junior...

    Day 15 is up http://www.independent.ie/videos/sport/day-15-of-paul-kimmages-tour-de-france-diary-29408768.html

I have to say, I'm really enjoying the tour this year. Mostly due to Dan's performance, but it helps to get Nico's diary and Kimmage's pieces...

Can you let us know when you're next planning a trip so we can be extra careful to self-moderate?

    :pac:
