Hah you must have had a long cruise to get that from the Z surely!

Yeah I reset it just before I hit the downramp joining on the M7 :o

As soon as I hit Newlands cross it was a different story.

What's the craic with AON insurance? They seem to have pushed out Car/Van insurance towards 123.ie/RSA? Did RSA buy the Car/Van part?

Little question folks, I'm looking to get white h7 lights, is there any decent ones around? Ones that won't blind oncoming people preferably

Had the NCT today on my A class. It failed, but not so bad... and thankfully not a word on the bodywork I've been doing on it for the past few weeks. The fail was on a rear seatbelt caught in the back seats and also a rusty and/or dirty brakeline. So, just gotta get that brakeline checked out. :)

The low idle CO was 0.02% (fail is 0.30%!) with high being 0% (fail is 0.20%) and the lambda was 1.00. Not too shabby I think! :D

Well you certainly didn't manage that around Mondello. 9MPG  I thought I was seeing things.

Not sure I'd be expecting much more than 9mpg for a 3.5 V6 around a track being driven the way it's supposed to be driven tbh...;):D

Bought a car on the 28th of June with the Tax out of date since March. Do I have to tax it for the whole month of June then? The car hasn't been used since it was bought but I intend on beginning to use it within July at some point.

I'm afraid so. I bought my last car towards the end of the month and I had to pay the tax from the start of the month even though I didn't own the car at the time. It's ridiculous to be honest!

9MPG is impressive from a 4 cylinder alright!

Are you down much brake fluid? Mine is still on the max line thankfully. The brakes were seriously giving out on the last 2 laps though. I now realise the importance of a decent set of calipers and pads.

Thanks for that, might give them a call. But looking at the wet boiling point of ATE SB, it's not great. Might have a look for something else. Any suggestions out there? Don't really want to come up to Dunlop at Mondello after 8 laps to find I've already boiled my brake fluid again.

    Motul RBF600

    wet

    Motul RBF660

    Castrol SRF

If you're actually down on some, I'd buy the ATE for now and change later. I doubt many places actually stock those. Castrol SRF is about €60/L though

Saw a 132 Dacia earlier, thought it looked bloody brilliant!

Yeah, you're liable for tax from June. However you're still able to declare the car off the road via form RF100a, gardaí are still stamping. Declare the car off the road for june, tax it from July.

Gardai stop stamping in September right?

Sitting in my new work car park. There's some smashing looking motors parked here. Will try get a few pics as the week goes on

Relieved to find that leaving a car in an airport car park doesn't always kill your battery. Last time I did this I ran the battery ran, car was reluctant to jump, and somehow to started despite the immobiliser.

More than close now....its gone. Didn't realise just how much nobody wants a old 2.2 petrol car now. You couldn't give them away

Really annoying when you ring up about a car that's only being for sale since Saturday, to find someone is taking it for a test drive.
So I ring back half an hour later to find there's another test drive going on!

I guess so, but still, nice car all the same, so are you getting a duster or??

Brake fluid is at the max line for me to. But the brakes are still spongy as feck, and there's far more travel than I'd like, so I'm assuming it absorbed a lot of moisture and air when I boiled it. Gonna change it out later this week I hope.

And yeah, would seriously consider upgrading the brakes if I became a track regular. The single pot calipers on the GTI are barely road worthy on a 200bhp hatchback let alone track worthy. Thankfully the Porsche Boxster twin pots are bolt ons :cool:

Mine were sort of spongy for a half lap when they got really hot. I let them cool down and they returned to normal. You couldn't go wrong with the Boxter brakes!

    Yip..Duster. Strange move I know

I run Millers race fluid, endless pads and dyxcel discs all on the standard 96spec DC2 calipers. It's not about the calipers lads it's all about the bits you use with them :)

If any of you are considering tracking more often it'd be the pads and discs I'd spend money on rather than calipers

So when are we doing the next track day lads?! I'm working for most Irish Bank Holidays so that rules those open days out. I'd almost do another training day again.

I'd love to do another. But seems apart from bank holidays, you'd need to go to a club or forum day. And the forum day ones require you to be a fairly avid poster.

That's true- there is an upcoming one on the 26th for Backroads.ie.. While I reckon I have enough posts I don't really know anyone personally and they are a cliquey group that lot.

I can give Mondello a call this week and see when the next training session is. Apart from that we could do a half day morning session on a track day that is a non-bank holiday. The track seems to be a lot quieter on the non bank holidays which is good.

The only non bank holiday I see on the Mondello calender is October 28th (Monday)- open track (full intl).

Are there any prerequisites for these track days or can anyone go?
