Not a fan of Glee and can't say I knew much about him, but it's always sad to hear of someone young passing away.
Found in a hotel room in Canada but no foul play suspected.

    RIP.

I hope people don't make a song and dance about it.

I watched it a few times when it first came on tv. That's the big tall isn't it? I think he was in rehab recently enough? Must have relapsed & overdosed. Can't believe he was 31!!

He was 31, a hotel room death in somebody that young always seems to be either drug overdose or suicide.

Another young actor found dead in an hotel room. Surely at some point lessons have to be learned from these cases and the tell tale signs can be seen in advance. Does the industry n ot have a responsibility to those that work in it to protect their employees?

From the outside it all seems that these things are just an accepted part of the industry. Even looking at Lohan and others it is just one of the side effects of fame for some and little seems to be done to actually help those in clear need of help.

Not knowing much about this case, but I think he was in rehab recently so it was clear he had issues.

Of course the 'industry' will come out and say it's a tragedy (there's the next glee cover right there!) to lose someone for young blah blah, but nothing will actually be done about it.

Well if they're still earning and laying those golden eggs then they are protected, though as history has shown they're often enabled in dodgy behaviour, so long as they are the golden goose. When the fame passes or they just become too much hassle and that gets in the way of the money, then too often they're left out to dry, and/or left to the wolves in the popular press to feed off.

Very sad for someone so young.

No. They have a responsibility to pay him on time and make sure he has a decent environment to work in. That doesn't extend to mothering him 24 hours a day and making sure he doesn't do stupid **** because he earns too much money.

Blaming anyone else but him is ridiculous. He's 31, not a child. He's responsible for himself. And there is nothing you can do about it. How many times have pro wrestlers been put through rehab by the WWE? How much money has been spent by the PFA and others trying to get Gazza sober? If he wanted help he needed to go and get it, just like every other addict.

He had a history of drug/alcohol abuse, his first stint in rehab was actually even before he became famous on Glee.

Awful news, seemed like a nice bloke by all accounts.

I have to say, I'm very sad to hear this.

I remember how candid he was about his problems with addiction, such a pity it killed him in the end.

He seemed very decent and normal, especially for the industry he was in.

I read the thread title and I had to do a double-take!! :( That's such sad news. He was so young as well, only 31.

    RIP Cory.

So sad. He seemed like such a lovely, down to earth fella. Absolutely gorgeous too - he was a big crush of mine! The fact that he voluntarily went into rehab recently showed that he wanted to overcome his demons.

    3 threads on this?

I think this thread can be considered the point when AH finally became what it's been threatening to become for a while now, an extension of the "liek dis if u h8 child abuse" wing of Facebook.

Did you make the same comment on the 15 page James Gandolfini thread?

No, because he was the lead actor in one of the greatest TV series of all time rather than a dude from some kids' show.

I generally don't look at RIP threads anyway because I get annoyed watching people compete with each other to prove they're the most empathetic. There's something very crass about it.

It's not just some kids TV show, it is a smash hit TV show which became a global phenomenon and one that Monteith, one of the original and most loved stars was still starring in.

The only way to deal with this is to sing some songs and bust out a few dance moves. Someone will need to rap.
