I have 2 LNBs for mt sat dish. One for mainly German reception (19.2) and one for Uk channels (28.2) Both have worked perfectly for almost a year, Suddenly the Uk channel;s have disappeared while the 19.2 channels have continued to work well. Any suggestions as to what is wrong??

Check for physical damage of any kind, check the cable & connections from the DiSEqC switch (where the 2 lnb feeds are merged) to the lnb for 28 degrees east. This will be the lefthand one when viewed from in front of the dish.

If 28 east is the offset lnb on one of those brackets that clamps to the centre lnb, check it isn't loose & moved out of position.

LNBs are generally very reliable but they can go wrong just like any electronic device.

Maybe try bypassing the DiSEqC switch & see if that has any effect.

Hi all, Got a new LNB but found problem was in fact caused by faulty DiSEQ switch box so had to replace that also. Most stations are back but some have not reappeared, most notably stations in the channel 4 stable eg film 4, E4 and Channel 4 itself. Some news channels I previously got on 19.2 also have not reappeared. Any help welcome

Channel4 stations are not weak so its hard to know what the problem is if you have identified the diseqc as blowing.

In order of signal strength Channel 5s are the strongest along with BBC's and Channel 4 stable.

One sure method to see if the signal issue is dish alignment related is to see if you can receive the ITV+1 stations and the CBS channels which are weaker again.

If they are fine and coming in, you need to reset whatever box you have and rescan or manually scan the transponders for the missing channels.

If the ITV+1 channels are missing, then your dish needs to tweaked ever so slightly. The signal meter on the box should tell you the strength.

Well, I did advise you to bypass the DiSEqC switch before condemning the lnb.

Which satellite position is the dish actually aligned on, or are both lnbs offset?

BBC 1 and 2 NI have problems. Signal interference. If I go to a BBC 1 and 2 signal from England or Wales it work's perfectly. Has the NI transmitters changed again?

Thanks for suggestions and background info. problem is now solved. I put original LNB back and auto scanned. I got over 400 channels most of which I have zapped and am now down to ca 200 including the missing channel 4 family. It's strange that BBC 3 just shows blank screen, but that's the way it was previously so do not miss it. It seems new LNB just does not have range as the old. My receiver is Triax and new LNB is opticum lsp02G.

BBC 3 and 4 only come on air after 7pm. During the day they show CBBC and Cbeebies.

It should have unless it's faulty. If it was only the bottom-of-the-band Channel 4 transponder missing, that would draw suspicion on the lnb oscillator frequency being a bit off, delivering these channels at a frequency too low for the receiver to tune.

If others higher up the band were also missing, then maybe you managed to cause some kind of frequency-selective fault with a dodgy connection or something.
