Bram Stoker is the only one I've ever heard of so he gets my vote but that's still a crap name for a bridge.

Willie Bermingham deserves some form of recognigition. Forming the Alone organisation, as a result of his experiences as a Dublin fireman, had a profound impact on me when I was a young adult and I support it to this day.

The bridge needs to at least resemble something the person is famed for, albeit in an abstract way and in my view it mostly resembles maybe a hockey stick or a big fang.

I can't believe they removed Ernest Walton from the list. Easily one of our countries finest minds. The only Irish person to date who has received a Nobel prize in science. The first person to split the atom (along with John Cockcroft of course), verifying Einstein's E=mc2 (He was personally thanked by Einstein for it too). Pretty much ground breaking physics right there. We should be trying to promote science and our scientific heritage (which is a lot better than most realise) but we pretty much look over the impressive scientific discoveries Irish people have made instead of celebrating and building on them. Pity, Walton didn't write a poem or sing a nice song, maybe he'd get a bit more recognition then.

Alone was the very first charity i ever heard of, remember thinking why would people spend their lives helping others but i was only 8 or 9 so i was pretty clueless about life. I feel Willie Birmingham has done more for the people of Dublin than anyone else on the list so it would be nice for him to be recognised for his work

If I had it my way, I'd name it after Ernest Walton - the Nobel prize winner for splitting the atom or William Rowan Hamilton - mathematician who invented quaternions(think 3D graphics)

But seeing as they're both clearly not as worthy as Frank Duff and the like for DCC...I'd have to go with Bram Stoker

Knowing the worrying trend of naming landmarks after business/corporations/companies (Bord Gais Energy Theatre, the O2, the Aviva Stadium, etc.) I wouldn't be surprised if they call it the Starbucks Bridge.

In fairness, those companies paid big money to get them renamed. I don't think that's as likely to happen with something like a bridge as opposed to a venue but if it did it would me a few quid for the state.

It would have been amazing if they had designed the bridge to look like a CW multiplier from above and then called it the Ernest Walton bridge.
