Scrotal size is a good indicator of whether a young bull is mature enough for the job. With this hot weather you'll have no difficulty seeing his jewels :)

I was looking at bulls in feeding and I was commenting to myself that they never really do well until there 'jewels' drop which they have in the past few weeks. dont know whether its the feeding or the heat so

Have a problem with our Ch bull. All cows gone to him in the last month have repeated. He's following them, and rising on them, but 3 weeks after they are on again. Everything has to get AI now - luckily we have only got about 15 left to go, but it's going to have a major impact on calving interval.
are you going to get him fertility tested? plenty of ads on donedeal for this

Occurs during hot weather but only in 'mature' bulls.

During hot weather, these muscles relax, peritting the scrotum to stetch and the spermatic cord to lengthen. Thus, the testes swing down away from the body These muscles do not rsepond to changes in temperature until near the age of puberty. They must be sensitized by testosterone to respond to changing ambient temperature.

Neighbour has an oldish bull. His balls are nearly dragging the ground.

    The bull not the neighbour.

    What a day
Cows in and milked early, baler man rang that he was on way to bale out farm

Digger arrived at 8 and I got him organised. Leisurely breakfast with news paper and off to Doscussion group, handy well organised day it so I thought!!!

On way to farm baler man calls that for some reason he wouldn't be able to bring in. I said I'd do after noon. Called local young lad to drive tractor and trailer said we'd go after I got cows in for milker. Just as cows were in milker rang that he couldn't come as had a family emergency and would I milk

Now the pressure was on to milk and drive 30k to bring in bales. I met my neighbour and was telling him my tale. Low and behold his son arrived 15 mins later and drove loader. A good turn!!

Now I'm at another neighbour's house stuffing my face with beer and burgers, home and hosed. No sign of the young lads. It's great to have good neighbours.

My uncle was being waked, local "mad cat" lady waltzed in, had a good look inside the coffin, says "Doesn't he look well, has he lost weight?" to the grieving family. Got ran by one of his daughters fairly quick!
