Driving around earlier, seen an ould lad out in shirt, jumper, hat, wellingtons... cutting hay with a scythe. I reckon it's the rural equivalent of hot yoga.

Are a long hard day. Sitting outside the Carrickdale hotel in the evening sun and the warm breeze, listening to the clink of ice cubes off the glass in my pint of bulmers.
    Happiness is......

My grandfather used wear a wool jumper on the warmest day. He reckoned if it kept the cold out it would keep the heat out.

Tis a day to be near the water I think, off kayaking for a few hours now and a bit of pier jumping in the evening. Its too warm to be working :p

Good call. Went for a paddle myself, and a dip afterwards.

Hay all rowed up for the morning, went to the local canoe/kayak centre. Live 6 miles away and had never been. We had a great time. Water must be 25 degrees!

can anyone confirm is it over 24 months that a bull for breeding has to be blood tested for sale? will test then last 30 or 60 days, heifers 18 months still or has that changed?

Jaysus I love this weather. 16 dry cows out to the out farm this morning. Then after dinner got a lend of a manitou from the uncle and a man basket and got 60 timbers on a shed. Only finished at it at 11 and still felt like doing more. Weather makes all the difference.

He'll be absolutely fine. I'm caught for time this week or I'd be doing the same myself.

Have a problem with our Ch bull. All cows gone to him in the last month have repeated. He's following them, and rising on them, but 3 weeks after they are on again. Everything has to get AI now - luckily we have only got about 15 left to go, but it's going to have a major impact on calving interval.

That happened a buddy of mine two years ago . His lad had a virus that took two months to clear but he was fine after though . He ended up leaving a good few autumn calvers go to spring . Its a bit of a pain but at least the bull came good for the following year

    Yea,

    He's got big since that.

He's 14 months now. He should be ok to handle 10 to 15 cows.

Ah - what you need Kev is a missus and a rake o kids, to badger you to go to the beach from about 1st July on... ;):D
    (that's what I've been told anyways) ;) :P

You should try to get away tho, even if its only for a small while... Just to switch off, and enjoy a bit of the fine weather...

If hes big enough he might tip away. With a bit of luck the least he'll do is tell ya when they're coming bulling, and you've the option if the AI man then.

It's a pain when the old bull lets ya down, hopefully it a temperory hiccup that has interupted supply.
