    Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out where this 21 degree 3 Hybrid http://www.amazon.com/Callaway-Diablo-Hybrid-Right-handed-Graphite/dp/B0034KZYCM should fit in relation to this 15 degree fairway wood http://www.amazon.com/Callaway-Diablo-Octane-Fairway-Woods/dp/B0043D2LSE and it's 19 degree 5 wood sibling.

I assumed that in terms of distance it would be the 3 Wood (circa 220 yards on a good day), the 5 wood (circa 200 yards) and the 3 hybrid (circa 180 yards) but some days I seem to hit the 3 hybrid further on a clean strike than the 5 wood on an equivalent strike.

Am I correct to assume I should be hitting the 5 wood 20 yards (+/-) further than the 3 hybrid all other things being equal given the 5 wood is a 19 degree club Vs the 21 degrees of the 3 hybrid? Both clubs have standard length regular flex shafts.

    Can someone put me straight????

    Cheers,

    Ben

Did you say 20 league titles further?? :D

You would think you would hit it further but the shaft on the hybrid might suit you better. Do you launch the 5 wood quiet high compared to the hybrid?

BOOM BOOM - I like it

I probably launch the 3 hybrid higher than the 5 wood. I know this is probably wrong but I tend play the 3 hybrid more like an iron with a steeper swing plane than the 5 hybrid which I tend to hit with a slightly flatter (driver type) swing if that makes any sense??

When I use my hybrid I tend to swing as if it were a fairway wood. it could be a few factors, maybe you are more confident with the hybrid could be the shaft, it's hard to know.

True enough, there are a lot of variables.

I guess "in theory" my 5W with its 19 loft should be averaging +/-15 or 20 yards further than the 21 degree hybrid so the challenge is to get the right performance out of the 5W.

    Ben
