I was in the local town park today with my oh,
we were sitting down on a bench relaxing as you would on a lovely day like this, until this woman and her partner and child came over to us, the woman said to us that we had to move and let them sit down as they had a child(who looked to be 12 or more and had plenty of energy.)
we said no and could they not sit elsewhere as there was more bench's, she said no as they wanted the sun!!!
In fairness its the only bench where the sun isn't blocked by tree's.
There is more to this story but I don't want this post to be to long.:/

I feel sorry for their child. He/she has a bumpy ride ahead of them.

At the first bolded part I would have laughed in his face, at the second part I would have told him to please do that. I would have sat there for another hour just to piss them off. I can understand that maybe you prefer not to get into confrontation s with idiots like this but as another poster said "why do these people never approach me with that ****"Seriously that would make my day :D'

    What park is this?

I'd nearly take a day off and go sit on that bench in the hope they'd come back and ask me to leave. Would be great craic.

By getting up and giving these people your seat, you give up your right to come to AH and complain about it.

Please close your Boards account immediately and buy yourself a spine!

I didn't come to AH to complain about it, I started a thread about rude people, etc and one of the rules in AH is to contribute to your op,
I could of started the thread and asked have others encounted rude people and left it at that.
They weren't worth arguing with, after us refusing to move for at least 5 or more minutes, it was getting very irritating.
Would you blame us for eventually moving then...
Let me ask what would you have done???

How does it feel to be a complete doormat?

    It must feel wonderful.

I am genuinely shocked that you / your oh didn't tell them to get fcuked.

In all honesty there is not a chance I would have moved I would have sat there and kept laughing at them winding them up. Childish I know but idiots like that need to know that they can`t just demand what they want and have their own way.

You should have made a deal with them that they'd have it if they came back in ten minutes. Then you should have picked up a piece of dog shite, smeared it all over the bench and left before they were back.

I would've pointed to the other benches and told her that if they didn't suit her she knew where the park exit is. Fcuk em and their child, obnoxious bints.

To be honest, I would have moved too. Not because I'm a push-over. I'm not. But simply sitting there listening to their ****e having to put up with them is too much for me to care about.

I think I speak for everyone sitting in front of a keyboard when I say, a Chuck Norris style roundhouse kick to the head.

Every time they start mouthing just start a new verse of "We shall not we shall not be moved!"

I did actually say that, and he turned around and said the was no need to be rude.

anyone else have any tales of rude people to share?

Well.... I was driving my jeep one day and a D reg clio came flying up behind me. I saw him gesturing wildly but i had nowhere to pull over. I normally would but this was an estate and i was doing 30mph. He also had a head on him that told me if pr*cks were scarce, he would make two.. I saw a speed bump ahead. Now these boys are big because the place had a serious problem with the fat exhaust crowd. So -and this is the only time ive done it, your honour- I looked around, no one walking. I slowly sped up, he matched my speed, never more than a few feet behind, exactly what I wanted.
We hit that bump at about 40 mph. The jeep took it but by god did I jump! But let me say this: The chaos I witnessed behind me, his head just disappearing over the line of his windscreen, swerving left to right then pulling over, is a feeling I'll take with me to my grave:D

That sort of person has no sense of irony. It's a public amenity for goodness sake. It reminds me of an old fella up the street from us, he was out the other day painting a white line and the word private by his house to create his own car park space outside the house. I don't know who he thought he was kidding. It's nobody's private space, we don't drive so its no skin off our nose, but you have to wonder at the logic of some people

Yes because nobody would ever tell a rude old cow to go fcuk herself.

    How absolutely insane and improbable!

The cheeky sod's partner then spoke up and said that we were sitting there for over a half hour...
He then said he was going to ring the authorities

Now thats a phone conversation, if recorded, would be doing the rounds better than the Anglo tapes.

    Brrr Brrrrr click...
    "Hello yes.."
"Eh... yeh.. eh theres this fella and his bird and they've been sittin' on the park bench fer over half an hour now and me an me moht wanta sit there now, willya cum over an move them fer us?"
"Are they causing a disturbance or something?"
"Ehh no, just that we wanta sit there and they wont gerrup"
"Would ye go and feck off with yourself" and hangs up.

Ah c'mon. I'm in Wexford. The weather should be as good tomorrow and I've nothing on. I'd LOVE to lie in wait for them to come back. Water, benches, ducks, is it Johnstown Castle????? I'm only 10 mins away. Would they be still there now do you think??? I'll pick up your backbone while I'm there and PM you

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,227 ✭✭✭✭Sparky

Ah ffs you got up and let them walk all over you!!

Honestly next time that happens, just laugh at them.
You should have sat there and not moved an inch. It's not your fault the sun is shining on that spot. What's more if they reaaaly wanted to sit in the sun, I'm sure there was plenty of grass to sit on.

I don't think it is worth fighting for it and the OP did what he thought was right. What if this family pulled out something or became violent and believe me even having their child present does not stop scum like that. Sometimes it is not worth the confrontation and it is better to leave the situation altogether. Yes they are rude and out of line but I certainly would not have continued with their bull**** they would not be worth my time and wasted energy. I find people are more "unstable" these days and you don't know what they are capable of doing.

There's your problem and the fact that some pr1cks don't have the manners to ring or even just text to say they can't make a commitment. waiting on a chap all weekend to come a give me a quote for some wiring in the house despite him telling me he'd be here Saturday, and even after texting him Saturday night he didn't have the manners to text me back. hate that sh1t!
