    Bad as in good, yeah?

I'm down up down with the kids, see?

I can't say that was particularly freaky, but I have seen a UFO once. Now, that was what it was-an Unidentified Flying Object, not necessarily aliens.:pac:

It was during an afternoon about 6 years ago in Kerry and I was just after doing a bit of hill walking and was sitting down on the ground. I saw in the way in the distance, a small egg shaped object moving slowly in a straight line against the horizon. It was white or maybe grey and was moving with the top of the "egg" facing forward. More than likely, it was a helicopter that I was looking at, the distance being so great that I couldn't see the tail or the blades or landing frame.

I forgot this one. I was working in town building stone at a new small park for children, out of nowhere this old man appears and starts asking me about the stonework and the usual **** like the weather blah blah blah.
Then he looks me up and down and tells me I am a strapping young lad and I should play Gaelic football. Then comes the Spanish Inquisition: "What age are you?" "Whats your name?" "Where do you live?"
I told him a pack of lies and went home and cried in the shower. Maybe he meant no harm, who knows, it just creeped me out...

It sounds like you were fairly old if you were working at building. Were you above 15? What was your name? Where did you live?

was on a J1 a few years back. We had a fairly big session in somebodys place and left loads of empty cans all on the table in the sitting room...some stacked a couple high.

So next evening I popped in on my way back from work to say hello to the people who lived there. I was at the door talking to one of the girls for a while and all of a sudden the cans on the table across the room started all falling over - there was nobody near them, no wind nothing. Freaked me out.

Then the girl I was talking to told me they were always having weird stuff happening in the house. One of the girls woke up one night with the feeling that something was pushing down on her blanket on top of her. She called the other girl in the room who turned on the light and swore she saw the outline of something on top of the blanket just as she turned on the light. Almost as soon as the light went on the pressure on the blanket stopped.

Other times they had drawers jam themselves shut and wouldnt open only to open without a problem a couple of mins later. Dishes would fall off tables onto the floor.

Needless to say drinking sessions were no longer held in that place when we heard of that.

My brother, my sister, a friend and I were visiting various sites in Normandy last week.

Late evening on Monday last we went to the Point Du Hoch (a small peninsula which hosted an assault by the US rangers on D-Day WW2 which has been left in situ, rubble and craters left as was)

Anyhow, we were relaxing at the observation point and watching the sun set.
We had looked around the whole site we thought and when the sun was gone we started away.

As we were leaving my sister hung back as she though she had spotted a bunker we had not investigated.

She called us back and asked me to go in first as I had a flashlight on my phone, I obliged.

Now these bunkers are below ground level some 10 or 15 feet and this particular one was fairly large, it had a circular hatch above ground and 2 flights of steps leading down through a small doorway, passing a small corridor which lead to 2 large rooms then another small room.

These rooms have NO light and and no wind or air seems to get in so it's impossible to see without light and it's always warmish in the main rooms.

So I was ahead with the friend and brother trailing seeing did the hatch we saw above lead to any of the room(looking, not climbing or tooling around),
The sister was trailing at the back in one of the large rooms while we were in the last small room,
She had no light ad I was in a different room so she took out her phone to use it as a light, as she was turning to look around she felt a really cold chill on her shoulders which then felt like someone pressing on her shoulders and then her back.
She didn't say anything other than she wanted to leave and then explained what happened when we were outside.
My brother and the friend went back in and thought they saw something though that now appears it could've been an old pipe piece hanging from one of the walls.

None of us had talked about any of that kind of paranormal stuff before nor had we checked had anyone else had such experiences beforehand.

She's adamant about what she felt and has never experienced anything like it before, and none of us had an explanation for it.
We thought it strange that the brother, friend and I were leaving and it was the sister who called us back only for her to be the one who was 'haunted'.

    Amazing experience all the same.

Don't know if it was mentioned but sleep paralysis is absolutely terrifying. Anytime it happens to me I feel like i'm being dragged from my bed by someone. Scary sh*t. If you haven't experienced it you don't want to!

Great thread. My story is not so much creepy/unnerving, but more freaky and an act of extraordinary coincidence. Story is about my grandmother and she loves telling everyone about it, god love her.

Anyways, I think it was about 1937, my grandmother was 12 years old and lived in Leitrim (where she was born). Her mother sent her off down to the local shop to pick up bread (apparently that was the norm)...nearest shop being 2 miles away. She goes to the shop, gets the bread and heads off home. On her way back she starts to feel unwell and ends up having a seizure in the middle of nowhere (she epileptic). Young lad comes along, about 16, sees her lying unconscious on the side of the road, in the middle of January of all the months. He lifts her up and carries her to the nearest house which was about a mile down the road and was in fact my grandmothers closest neighbour. My grandmother wakes up on her neighbours sofa just in time to see the lady seeing the lad out the door and thanking him. The lad probably saved my grandmother life, as i was a particularly cold day and the roads (more like paths) where empty 95% per cent of the time.

Anyway fast forward 12 years and my Gran had moved to Dublin. She was working as sales person in some textile shop in town. Over the course of a few weeks she got friendly with a gentleman named David (also from leitrim) who used to deliver stuff to the shop. Eventually he asks her out. From what I can remember I think it was the 3rd time that they went out they were talking about there childhood. My grandmother brought up the fact that she was epileptic and had nearly died before. He's intrigued and she tells him the story. Well, the more she told the story, the whiter his face went. Shes finishes the story and by now can see that he actually has tear in his eye. He then stares at her and says 'That was me who found you'. As you can imagine my grandmother just started crying immediately.
They got married a year later and had 5 kids. My grandfather is unfortunately a long time dead at this stage, 24 years to be exact. My grandmother is now 87/88, and still going strong. I'll be proud to tell my young ones this story when I eventually get around to having some :) She can tell the story much better than i can, so apologies for the long post.

Oh and btw, just to fully complete the story, my grandfather lived about 4 miles from the shop in the opposite in the opposite direction of my grandmother house. He was out that day looking for his dog who had run away the day before, he says that he spent 8 hours that day out in the cold searching for 'Tara'.

I can't remember the exact story but I read it somewhere online and it apparently happened to the guy who wrote it. I'll try get the gist of it down, it's pretty freaky:

The guy, we will call him Alex, used to always go up to the same creek every year, and nearly the same date, him and his family would pull up on the side of the road and have a picnic when he was younger and he would venture off himself for a while, it wasn't too far from his home I don't think. He used to have to go through a forest then through a field and over a hill. He would then get to a passage of trees and the creek with the easy flowing water and rocks.

Alex used to rarely see anyone when he went on his wander, the same wander he would go on anytime he was there.

One day, Alex was about 14, and when he got through the forest and into the field he saw a man in the distance. As he got closer to the man he thought that the man looked odd, they both looked at eachother very oddly as they were oncoming, and both stared for a couple of seconds whilst they passed eachother. Alex thought nothing of it and just assumed the man was weird for staring and once he didn't follow him he thought there must be no danger.

Many years had passed and Alex was now a man with his own family. He was back in his hometown visiting and thought he should drive up to the old creek by himself and see if it was still the same as he remember from his little family trips from years ago. He took the path he used to always take and got to the creek, took a few minutes and just relaxed and thought about things. Suddenly it dawned on him that this was the very same date him and his family used to visit the road way and stop for a picnic and play. Although it had been many years since he had done it he enjoyed the memories. He felt happy and left the creek. It was when he came to the field he noticed something very odd. In the distance there was a young boy and a weird feeling came over him. He walked uneasily past the boy, staring at him, and the boy staring back. They passed eachother without speaking. When he got back to his car at the road he remembered that day years ago when he was 14 and the man passed him and they both looked at each other oddly and in the same way. He wondered if it was a time glitch and that he was looking at himself in the past and that they were both in that same moment at the exact same time and some phenomenon allowed them to see eachother, in the future and the past.

The guy who I saw write it wrote it way better and claimed it to be true. I can't find it but I would love to find it again and post it, even if it wasn't true it was a great read.

Oddly enough I found the original story again (it is claimed by the author to have actually happened). Have a read..

I've had sleep paralysis a few times. It's surreal. But my first experience of it was kind of different. People have described what they felt like an evil presence. I felt like I was wide awake but completely paralyzed, and there was something bearing down on me, I was trying to shout but couldn't get any sound out.

And this is where my experience was different. At the end of my bed I saw someone and I lost the fear completely and just felt calm. My Dad had died a few months before this and at that moment in my mind I knew it was him.

Happens exactly the same way with me, feel like there is someone standing over me. Last time there was someone standing in the middle of the room, scared sh*tless to say the least.

This happened when I was about fifteen and still scares the shit out of me now just thinking about it.

I was staying over at a friend's for the night, whose house happens to be about half a mile from the town in my area. We had been playing playstation pretty much all day and were bored shitless, and with my friend's parents being away we thought it would be a good chance to walk into town and get some alcohol and go drinking. When we got into town we got someone to get us beer and then headed to the tracks at the edge of the town, trains didn't run on it anymore and it was sort of a hotspot for young people to go drinking.

So, we stayed drinking in the one spot for about an hour or two until we got bored and decided we'd walk further up the track. It was pretty late at this stage and pitch dark. We walked for about a half mile until we heard the sound of voices in the distance. At first we thought it was nothing, maybe some older lads out drinking or something. We continued walking and the voices became louder and they seemed to sound like some sort of chant or rhyme.

We were still a good bit away, and the track was overgrown with trees so it was difficult to see. We kept walking, terrified, but too curious and brave from the alcohol to stop. Finally we got close enough to see, and to this day I will never forget this. A large group of individuals all wearing black hooded robes stood in a circle about 20 foot away. We turned around and legged it as fast as we could, never looking back.

I know we were fairly drunk, but my friend has always had the same recollection of what happened as I do. It gives me the creeps just thinking about it.

This happened in the Dublin mountains in the late 90's.....

Not as chilling as the rest but......

Myself and the ex were driving pretty late at night back towards Dublin. We were on an open stretch of the road in a very desolate part of the mountains....not even distant house lights. Miles from anywhere. In the distance I could make out the reflection of the car lights on the eyes of an animal. As we got close, it was a really huge big black dog sitting on its hind legs just staring at us, stock still. It was on my boyfriends side of the road, on that kind of raised mound you get at side of country roads. As we passed, I noticed that the dog never moved, nor the reflection on his eyes didn't budge as you would expect with animals. My boyfriend was in the middle of a long tale so I didn't ask him about it until we passed. I asked was there many wild dogs in Ireland. He laughed out loud at my question and asked why. I repked as to where the big black dog came from. He asked "what dog?"....he honestly saw nothing...... we had been on a straight stretch for nearly a min before with the dog shining at us all the way passing within feet of his side. Maybe it was an omen for the relationship, lol

I have a few stories but one of the genuinely weird ones happened when I was a child and staying at my cousins for the night. His house was in the middle of nowhere in the countryside with nothing a mile on either side except fields. The house was newly built and the surrounding land was owned by a local farmer. The fields around the house were barren and had nothing in them except rocks.

Anyways, myself and the cousin had stayed up half the night playing playstation until finally, at around 330am we decided to call it a night. Just before we headed to bed, there was a strange sound, like something tapping the bedroom window. We pulled back the curtains but there was nothing there. Thinking nothing of it, the cousin was just pulling the curtains closed again when I spotted a light in the field behind the house (about 100 metres from the bedroom window). It was like a really strong torch light and it was moving frantically, as if someone was rushing around the field looking for something. We sat deadly still in the dark bedroom, bewildered as to why anyone would be in an empty field miles from anywhere at that hour. Suddenly, the light stopped dead in it's tracks for a few seconds before swinging around and shining directly in the window at us  We nearly **** ourselves. It was so bright that the big round globe of light sat on the back wall of the bedroom, moving from side to side as if looking for us (at this stage we were both crouched under the windowsill crapping our pants). Then suddenly, it vanished and when we were brave enough to look back out the window, it was gone.

It probably doesn't sound like that big a deal but it was really freaky to think that there was someone out there in the middle of the night doing god knows what and they knew we were watching them.

Could have just been lamping foxes or rabbits and then the torch/lamp caught the glint of the window and they thought it was the glint of an animals eyes.

Don't mean to discredit your story but it goes on quite a bit in the countryside, usually unknown by the landowners so hence why they would have scarpered if they thought they were being watched.

I've experienced sleep paralysis twice, once a few months back, and another just a few nights ago. The first time was a most bizarre experience. I remember being stiff as a poker lying in bed, and the only thing I could move were my eyes. I tried to call out for help, but nothing left my mouth. I didn't see anyone lurking around me, or feel any pressure on my chest, but nonetheless a freaky experience.

Get this regular enough and i enjoy it,vibrations of the paralysis is a wicked feeling.a wee hint is not to be afraid or try and fight it,when it happens and just enjoy it.It hates ego's :)

So, my mam died coming up to 4 years ago. We've had a cordless phone for a good bit longer than that and it's never done anything odd (it is just a cordless phone, after all) and we've never changed its ringtone or anything because there was never much point in it. My dad was at home earlier and it started playing a different tone, and it had her name on the screen (not sure if it said calling or anything though, now that I think of it), and above the answer button it just had "stop", as if it was an alarm or some kind of reminder.

The weirdest part is that her name isn't in the phone anywhere (she lived here like, so no need) and even when my dad rooted out her phone and called the house number, it said unknown number. He couldn't find the tone either, but that kind of makes sense if it wasn't necessarily a call. No idea what happened, kinda creepy but also kinda nice in a way.

My dad works in maynooth college as a security guard, when he first started working there nearly 20 years ago, he was doing his first night shift in the old part of the college...Anyway he was doing his rounds checking everything was locked up etc..when something caught his attention up in one of the building, (for anyone who knows the college I think it was in the main coyrtyard in the middle with the green area in the middle with all the buildings covered in ivy surrounding it) he could of sworn he saw a shadow move at one of the top windows, now my dad is not the type of person to believe in anything supernatural, but it spooked him a bit as it was summer time and the place is pretty much empty at that time of year.
So the next morning when he was handing over shifts to the day guard he asked were any of the rooms/buildings being used as he sure he seen someone at the window, the guy asked which building, turns out it was the room where one of the trainee priets had gone crazy and killed himself by jumping out the window, that room had been locked since the day it happend. Aparently some other people working there said they seen the same thing.
Always remember my dad telling me that, I think about it everytime im there.

I think the full story of the Maynooth priest is that there was a trainee priest that lived in the room and he cut his own throat. People just said okay that was a suicide, then another priest stayed there, same thing happened. Cut his own throat, another suicide.

After that another priest (guy you are referring to stayed there I guess) and was cutting his facial hair. He got an overwhelming feeling to cut his own throat when he was about to shave at the mirror - he also noticed a dark presence behind him in the mirror. He got so freaked out he jumped from the window based on the previous two priest suicides and knowing what happened.

They closed off the room and put a big Mary statue in it to warn off whatever was in the room at the time.

You can go up and see the room yourself now whenever you want - statue there and everything.
