Watched a video there where a bully hurting other people got blindsided and knocked out.. I don't have any problem with it but a lot of people say it's cheap.

In a situation like the above, should the guy be confronted or just knocked out and have it done with?

I would prefer to see them confronted and knocked out.

Cheapshots or blindsiding is scummy. Not as scummy as yer man in that video but it's all down to the situation, every one of them is different.
As for that video, yeah that may have been a cheapshot but the dickhead deserved it.

Everyone in that video is a knob.

He deserved what he got. He went looking for a fight, picking on those who didn't want one.

In street fighting there's only one rule; and that's there are no rules.

If he's being a genuine nuisance and needs to be put on his ass for everybody's sake, then yeah, even a swift kick to the bollox wouldn't be totally out of line. Chap in the video seemed to deserve it. At least it took him down a few pegs.

In general, no, it's a cowardly thing to do, akin to kicking someone in the head.

It's scummy and dangerous and could end up with someone dead and the other doing time for manslaughter.

Ahh I was getting mixed up with fight club ...

1st RULE: You do not talk about FIGHT CLUB.
2nd RULE: You DO NOT talk about FIGHT CLUB.

    :D

Is the guy in the red t-shirt's friend (in the black t-shirt who got hit at one point) giving the guy the peace symbol at the start when he first starts hitting him? :pac:

The guy in the video clearly deserved it, he'll probably think twice before trying it again in future.

He wasn't blindsided. That guy in the grey shirt was obviously going to make a move on him (watch him from the start of the video). The bully just has crap situational awareness.

Best defense is offense. I'd happily blindside someone or use any weapon with reasonable force if I was under threat like that guy in the red. There's only so much walking away you can do; the guy in the red was being followed as he was walking away. I'd also rather be the one in prison for manslaughter than the one in the graveyard. Sure in Ireland you only get three years for an unprovoked attack, I'd be willing to bet you'd be set free if you hit that guy in those circumstances.

That doesn't mean he wasn't blindsided

I can practically hear their knuckles dragging on the ground.

It kinda does. He was caught unaware, but only because he was too drunk / stupid to realise the guy was about to hit him.
    blindside
    -
catch unawares, especially with harmful consequences

Anyway, you go around punching randomers in the head and you can't really claim to have been caught off-guard when someone hits you.

In a situation like that I think it was acceptable. The guy is assaulting another guy who obviously doesn't want to fight so he had to be stopped. Restraining him might have been a more sensible option but there is a kind of poetic justice in that video.

He went looking for trouble and got it. Sympathy? None whatsoever.

Cheap thing in any situation IMO, if someone needs a smack then give it to them straight out, if you're unwilling to do that it's because you know you'd have your head kicked in unless you have the upper hand.

In fairness your man here deserved it but there's no glory in it for the guy that did it.

I dunno.. he got a grand cheer for it.

So unless you know you're a better fighter it's best to do nothing and just let the guy go on attacking people for no reason? yeah... takes way bigger balls to do nothing like.

Right, but being blindsided means you're hit and aren't aware you were going to be hit.
the circumstances in which you are unaware are completely irrelevant

There were other ways out of that situation

Maybe he was being a dick, a drunk one at that

but a blow to the head and/or the subsequent clobber hitting the ground could have ended up with brain damage or death,

In that case people might prefer they had walked away, especially if they were held responsible.

Id say just walk away, unless someone is following you and harrassing you and there is no way to avoid it, but I still think mostly its avoid getting into the situation where you end up facing someone thats intent on that.
If absolutely none of thats possible then all bets are off and I dont really want to get within screwdriver stabbing range, Id prefer hit them with something that puts them off balance and then run, yes honestly, having known a guy that was stabbed and died because he was apparently a peacemaker, Id say just get out of there, not worth it, cornered, a different story.

Cheapshots are are wrong but as others have said he deserved it as he was swinging for other people around him. So yeah i find it justified.

If your a bully, you can't complain.

F+ck him. Got what was coming to him.

I think it it. Especially in cases like this.

It's a cheap shot no matter which way you cut it, if someone stood up and got beaten down I'd think more of them than someone who blindsided another guy. If you're big enough to think you can floor him in one shot, you're big enough to do it face to face.

As bad as pulling a knife in a fistfight imo. I saw a lot of fights when I was younger, lads being picked on by a group, fighting one and getting a dig in and walking away unchallenged but if one of them had taken a cheap shot like that I'd say they'd have been killed..they'd have been stabbed and left for dead no question in my mind. Dangerous thing to do for the guy you're hitting and for yourself, could end up being glassed for it.

This was filmed in Texas. He's lucky that he didn't get his funking head blown off. I have absolutely no problem that he got knocked out. He got off easy.

Depends on the situation, in this situation it was fine, he was picking fights for no reason with people who didn't want to fight, someone stepped in to stop him, even if he did use a cheap tactic.
However, I've seen times were both people want to fight, one person admits defeat and when the other lets up they blindside them, this is not acceptable ever.

the guy who got punched was a dick and will probably think twice before pulling that **** again.
the other guy who punched him was a dick too..
so the moral of the story is 'there is no moral, and life is just a bunch of stuff that happens'.

He got what he deserved. That sort of punch is warranted in this situation, ultimately it stopped the situation escalating further
