    News from Setanta
SETANTA SPORTS ADD BT SPORT & ESPN CHANNELS TO BRING UFC TO IRISH FANS

Setanta Sports to add BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN from August 1st. The deal brings 30 live UFC events plus an array of other support programming to Setanta Pack customers in the Republic of Ireland.

Setanta Sports today announced a new deal with BT to add their two new BT Sport channels and the ESPN channel to the Setanta Sports pack. The deal means that Setanta Sports subscribers on satellite in the Republic of Ireland will receive the BT Sport 1 and BT Sport 2 channels from August 1st and with BT’s recent acquisition of ESPN in the UK and Ireland, Setanta subscribers will also receive the ESPN channel.

The deal means that Setanta customers will receive 30 Live UFC events including UFC 163 from Brazil in the early hours of August 4th with a main event of Aldo v Jung plus UFC 164 in late August. Setanta subscribers will also get to see the full range of UFC support programming.

Commenting on the deal Brian Quinn, Marketing Director of Setanta Sports said “This content is a real game changer for Setanta. It’s not Just 30 live UFC events but it will also include all associated UFC shows such as the Ultimate fighter, weigh-ins and the Road to the Octagon. The Setanta pack will be the only place to see the likes of Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre and Jose Aldo and we especially look forward to Conor McGregor’s upcoming appearance in Boston on August 18th.”

The new channels launch on satellite on August 1st. To subscribe to Setanta Sports on satellite visit www.setanta.com/ie/gamechanger for more information or call 0818 20 30 40. Further details of the Setanta Pack on cable and broadband will be released before Aug 1st.

I was happy before paying for my Sports pack, with ESPN included, and not bothering with Setanta. Now I guess i'm gonna have to pay more :(

Will the price of the setanta subscription increase by much?
Hope the weigh ins will be live though.

I'm going to dump Sky Sports, only had it because of free ESPN. Never thought I would be getting rid of Sky Sports in exchange for Setanta.

Prices not released yet. I don't have Sky Sports at the minute, just ESPN. So anything more than the €15 (I think) that ESPN costs will be a pain in the ass.

Is that the price for just Sky customers? Or is it for UPC customers too?

Yeah I can live with that. I wasn't getting Sky sports anyway so it's not much change from what I'm currently paying. And with Cage Warriors on Setanta too I can't complain.

Going to be a stinker for those who were gettin ESPN free with Sky Sports though.

I'm more annoyed at the thought of losing ESPN America.

Yeah it's a bit of a pain, but when the time comes, if you drop ESPN and get the Setanta package it's not much dearer. And the fact that cage warriors signed a deal with them helps to soften the blow a bit.

    Yeah.
If the coverage is good on Setanta then this might work out well for the fans. Hopefully it keeps up and we get a lot of mma on tv.
Setanta have been pretty bad in the past though, but with a bit of luck they'll have good mma coverage.

The ESPN on UPC will become part of this new Setanta package.

I have the full SKY sports package that includes ESPN
Will I need to subscribe to Setanta in order to keep my ESPN or will that continue to be rolled out with SKy sports?

Who said change was a good thing!

Just to let you know that we have announced our pricing for the Setanta Pack, which includes exclusive rights to show all the live UFC events from August 2013 until August 2016!
A lot of you have been asking about price changes given that we have added in 3 new channels of great content. You would be forgiven for thinking that because we are adding in 38 extra Premier League games, 25 FA Cup games, the SPL, Bundesliga, the Aviva Premiership, UFC and lots more that we would be putting up the price considerably. But we’re not. In fact we are giving all customers the chance to reduce their price! Take the annual offer of €199 per season and it works out at just €16.58 a month. That’s cheaper per month than we currently charge! Given that we have 71 Premier League games including 18 Top Picks, more than ever Setanta is a subscription for the full season so this deal may suit you best. Of course you may want pay monthly. In that case the price will be €19.99 per month. Today we sent out letters to all our customers confirming these great new prices.

More information on the Setanta Pack can be found here

    Thanks,

    Setanta

Disgraceful price, my sky digital is already around 90euro a month so I'm looking at 110 now... It's a joke how sky sports couldn't do a deal
