I haven't even got the 156 out of the yard yet! Plus electrics, driveshafts, clutch, subframe..... I'll need motivation I tells ya! :pac:

    Put a busso in her.
If anyone can do it, you can.

Would it even be physically possible though?

That's what I got the 166 for originally.... To shove its engine into the van  I think I prefer the idea of the t-spark that I can turbo afterwards :)

And yes, it's very easy to swap a Busso into a Bravo/a ;)

    Keep that 166.
It's a future classic. So few of the v6 models on the road.

Hopefully the busso engined alfas will go the same way as the integrales in a few years.

Stheno's got a new job that's really busy hasn't she?
I wonder how her gtv is going.
    Rj got banned.
I think for long time posters etc. there should be a voteback system but with penalties attached (maybe loss of pm capabilities)

I r here :D I heard you talking about me, I'm finished with the new job that was a temp assignment and kept me up to my tonsils, and back in my old one, and took the time to take some leave I had built up. Essentially I've been a lazy cow :) And I've taken up sailing so that's taken a bit of my time, not to mention the recovery required physically when a slob like me ends up doing physical exercise regularly :D

GTV is going fine, replaced all the brakes on it recently, and will finally get a quote to get the bodywork done this week :)

Did I read that 166man has also procured a gtv?

And has pred been behaving himself or is he still on about the french burds?

That trackday training seems a good day. You don't need anything particularly fast, sure there's a 1.25 Fiesta Championship.

I'm racing myself this weekend, it's actually over 2 days, Race 1 is Saturday evening and Race 2 is Sunday evening

    Welcome back!:)

Yep 166man stole a gtv. Well for the price he got it for he definitely stole her.
She'll be a beauty when she's fixed up.

And I dumped the German lass and went all Italian. So much fun!:)

A nice enthusiast owned 156 2.5 v6. Knowing how much he bought it for, and what he put into it, I'm extremely happy with what I paid for it.
Not to mention the work done before he bought it. Timing belt not due until jan 2017, although I may change it in jan 2016.
Although there were cheaper ones available.

Everyone should buy an alfa once in their life.
The amount if people who have told me they love the car but yet still mention reliability (these people do not service their cats) is ridiculous.

It's a massive step up from a polo.

Any tips for removing a 3 series gear knob?

New gator arrived this morning and getting the old one off is proving troublesome, the bloody thing wont budge no matter how much pulling me or the two work colleges that tried at lunchtime do!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,295 ✭✭✭Supergurrier

OSI make sure and shake the can for a full minute and dar reckons leaving the can sat on a radiator helps to thin it out about.

Also a rag with deter on it to keep it from gun king up is no harm.

Gonna be reattempting my fog surrounds grilles and some body trim next few days I have off

Dremel it up the side, just enough to split the plastic but not hit the metal shaft. I would be very reluctant to harshly pull the gearstick up as it can mess up the alignment with the shifter assembly.

Mondello is doing a Track Day Training morning on the 12th July. €50 and you get tuition and guidance round the track with an instructor and then open time on the track at the end of the session. A couple of us going already, might be good to get a few others from here to, to make up the numbers?
I wonder how shunned a 320d would be on track :pac:

Found the same when I was taking mine off... just had to keep pulling at it - it's a right hoor. One leg either side of the centre console and get a damn good grip. Also watch if you've a sunroof that you don't smack it when it finally comes off!

On another note.... Renewal came in. €800 on a 05 320d for a 22 year old, 5 years NCB and full license 3 years. Thoughts?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,234 ✭✭✭Ardennes1944

Seems a bit expensive to me. Mine is 200e more, I'm younger, less ncb but 4years license on a 325 m-sport which are more expensive to insure
